It's not which beer is the best in the state, it's which captures the essence of the state. 3 Floyds is too arrogant to be Indiana.... they're definitely Chicago.

Just to be a contrarian (and a grumpy old man), I am going to say the beer that best represents the character of the State of Texas is Quakertown Stout by Armadillo Aleworks of Denton. It won the 2014 Gold Medal at the GABF.

I will agree with what Squire said but if I picked one I will go with Lazy Magonila Southen Pecan.

Gotta admit, Lazy Magnolia Southern Pecan does have a certain ring to it.

For me it's kinda hard to say for Ohio. Since I'm Columbus born and bred I'd go with Columbus Brewing's IPA or Bodhi. I'm sure people from Cincy and Cleveland would pick their own brews and they would be good choices too. But with 3 major metro areas here it's pretty hard to pick a beer that would represent the whole state.

I'm sure others from Utah could debate me on this, but I'd say the beer that represents Utah is Uinta Cutthroat Pale Ale.

It's only released in Utah. It's been around for a couple decades.

For Washington, I'd have to say Top Cutter by Bale Breaker. Brewed in the middle of a hops farm in Yakima.

Late to the party on this one, and I’m sure it has been mentioned, but for me it’s Pliny. The definition of a perfect West Coast IPA.

PA is without a doubt Lager aka Yuengling Lager. I'm not sure if I've been to a bar in PA (Both NEPA and Central) that didn't have this on tap. It's kind of assumed the place has it - at least I just assume it.

California - I would agree with Pliny and Sierra Nevada. I feel like something from Stone should be considered. Arrogant Bastard?

Definitely another Utah staple. I've had my share of that over the past 10+ years. Polygamy Porter is definitely in the top 5 Utah beers.
Uinta, Wasatch/Squatters, Red Rock, are huge in Utah.

Fresh I guess DFH 60 and 90 Minute define lot of Delaware’s beer culture, but it was s very hard to bet a beer like WWS aged a few years.

Florida is way too diverse in geography and lifestyle to narrow down to one.

The panhandle, redneck riviera area would probably be

    30-A Beach Blonde Ale.

With a nod to Pliny and SNPA, the correct answer here is Anchor Steam Beer.
