Someone mentioned Jai Alai earlier... I'm going with Florida Cracker myself.

I live in NY. Their is no state character because, for example, our state contains both Rochester and Montauk at the same moment.

Georgia is a tough one, I would go with Tropicalia as what we are known for.

But as for one that represents the state and backs it with seniority, I'd say Sweetwater IPA or 420.

I agree with one of the above posters that North Carolina is going through a bit of an identity crisis but I largely think that most states are in this position as our taste buds have changed over time. While Red Oak captures the heart and mind of a certain type of beer drinker in NC, it largely is unknown outside of the state today and is pretty hard to get excited about. My vote for NC would be the dependable Foothills brewing company with Jade IPA, which was about of exciting of a beer that you could drink five years ago and still remains a quaffable choice.

Didn't Lone Pint Brewery temporarily shut down recently and they're not brewing anything at the moment? Something about infected beer? Not sure the details, I read the posting really quick..

No they recalled a specific batch from the market due to off flavors. From their website:

Good People El Gordo is the best beer that Alabama makes, and to be honest, no, I don't think it's close.

To somewhat validate your post ......
I grew up in PA, and family is still there, but have spent the past almost 30 years in Michigan. My brother visited for my 50th birthday earlier this month for the first time in ~10 years, and brought 2 beers - Yuengling Lager and Straub's American Lager.
I might add Rolling Rock to the mix (and Iron City of we're talking city-specific identities).

Wouldn't Landshark from Baldwinsville fit the bill?

Not too far from Buffalo, over close by Lake Erie. You got your land in Baldwinsville and you gots your sharks in Montauk.

Yeah, Landshark was topical from another thread about Jersey Shore liquor stores. It's one of those faux craft beers that folks just seem to buy. I suppose people think the marketing is "cute". Personally though, I'd trust @cavedave for his take on a real beer representing all of The Empire State!

Not on any NY map that I've ever seen. Baldwinsville (where Schlitz built a multi-million barrel capacity brewery in the 1970s only to sell it a few years later) is on the Seneca River, about 15 miles NW of Syracuse - once home to two great India Pale Ale brewers Moore & Quinn and Greenway ~25 miles south of the eastern part of Lake Ontario.

Yeah, B-ville is not that far from Fulton NY (where both Miller Beer and Nestle had plants). My 1st wife was from Fulton and her father still lived there when I was married to her. We'd visit him in Fulton then drive to Baldwinsville to visit her aunts and uncles.
