Good afternoon to our brethren in Europe and good morning to our NA BAs! It's starting out as a rainy day here in NW PA - oh well, I have "things to do" inside, one of which is today's New Breakfast Beer, the last of the six-pack:

A very pleasing American IPA to start the day.

My head is too stopped up this morning to smell anything and sense of taste is compromised as well. Now, I like Hamm's just fine when all my senses are ticking but today it seems to fill a slot.

Taste is very clean, this is a well made beer, managing to be flavorful without the heaviness in the middle that some AALs seem to have. Flavor is not really malty nor is it grainy but a blend of the two in a way that neither conflict but sing as a duet. I don't detect much in the way of hops yet there is a bit of floral something in the aftertaste that finishes things nicely.

    My morning juice...

Torrential Downpour from Platform - a "milkshake IPA" from Platform - features 2-Row, Pale Ale, Vienna, and Carared malts, El Dorado, Citra, and Comet hops, Voss Kviek yeast, flaked oats, lactose, and strawberry puree... 5/10 canning, 7% abv...

Back end of pour dumped some white chunky material into the glass which could be seen floating around and eventually settling to the bottom...

Lots of fruits on the nose - tropical and orchard-types predominantly, like pineapple, peach, and mango, with brighter notes that were clearly strawberry... On the sip more of the same, with sweetness eclipsing bitterness... The little bitter bite came on the finish, just a little tug on the tongue - nothing more.... Some citrusy tingles suggested oranges and lemon... Moderate carbonation, soft and smooth... A nice beer, very fruity, maybe too much particulate matter for some - though it didn't make the final sips taste any different than the first, but maybe not something you want to see... lol

    Cheers...

    Good morning BA
Starting my day off with this 3 week old treat...

For all you freshness freaks, the last canned DIPA I picked up at the local brewery was 2 months old (and it's not that good). Like it or not, in the heartland (or at least my part of the Ohio River Valley) large distributed craft is my best and freshest option. Thanks @Sixpoint for a fresh well made beer. Cheers all!

Trying something different for my brew #3. It's a very herbal and earthly Herbed/Spiced by Tsypa (Ukraine). Took a couple sips to adjust, but overall I like the beer. Cheers!

Yup, back with another - this is something of a New Beer Thor's Day Morning, eh?

Sohei Scissor Kick double dry hopped DIPA collab between KCBC and Northern Monk, featuring Pilsener and Vienna malts, flaked wheat, and Simcoe, Vic Secret, and NY X14 (???) hops... 8% abv, no canning date...

Classic combination of fruits and pines, with a sharp edged bitterness to clamp down on any sugary inclinations... Taut and lean, but with a soft, juicy underside... Presents notes of orange pith, green mango, floral pine airs, shellac, and melon... Medium-body-weight, moderate carbonation... Very much in line with a lot of my preferences - reminds me of some Trillium beers I've had... Recommended...

    Cheers...

Those who say proper cellaring does nothing good for a beer really need to try a FIS with 5 years on it. This is heaven in a glass.

Payday delay due to holiday. Stuck to the budget of $3 for for lunch. Tastes so much better when you stuck to your budget.
