Maybe I’m just out of the loop but just wanted to check if this was something others have had happen. Posted an ISO:FT. Nothing too crazy. Just looking to start a convo for a DL variant for my ADWTD DO. Got a few messages but not the variants I want. No big deal. Got a message this evening that asked if I was interested in Brozerker. I messaged back and said maybe but I had my eye on a couple of others(not handjee or chem I’m not crazy). Anyways his response was “Ok. Just let me know. Ps: Not interested in trading.” Shocked with the last sentence I asked for clarity. He replied Please text me at XXXXXXXXXX if you're interested in getting the Brotilla in oanother way instead of trading. I can meet you this Saturday. So he’s clearly trying to sell his beer which made me puke but I was just wondering has this happened to anyone else??
Sketchy indeed. Probably going to try to get a pretty profit on it. I have offered $ to people on here before but I offered cost of the beer and paid label and sent a thank you box. That's about all the $ shenanigans I participate in.
The morality/legality has been discussed ad nauseam, so no need for me to comment there, but selling beer goes on every day. It is not too bright for this person to try to do it here where it is expressly forbidden, but it's hardly shocking.
No, but I've heard about similar propositions, so it doesn't surprise. And yes, it does sound like a veiled attempt to try to sell beer, which I gather the individual who approached you is well aware is verboten on BA. If you get something like this again from this particular user, I would recommend that you contact a moderator. In the past when I've been alerted to something like this, I usually send the guilty party a reminder that selling beer on BA is illegal, and that if he's doing this, he needs to knock it off. In the past, that seems to have solved the problem.
Yeah I responded to him and snarkily thanked him for trying to sell beer to me on a trading forum. He went radio silent after that. I assume he got the point
Could be worse. Vial fills anyone? 2 oz of beautifully half carbed, oxidized beer for only the cost of the sellers admission to the event.
Do people do this? I've seen people offer 1-2oz samples of rare Bourbon on the trade boards, but never seen anyone ever try to do this with beer. Who would want that? Fuck.
I feel like this should be broken down into 2 categories: 1) people that want to try everything And 2) People that want to talk about what they have tried. I know lots of people in #1, and they will frequently not rate something if they believe it was a bad experience (e.g. End of the night at a beer fest, perhaps oxidized due to open for too long, just wrecked their palate with something, etc.). Those people would never buy or trade for that shit. Those in category number 2 sound like the same people that still wear their high school ring, and try to participate in conspicuous consumption. Yuck.
I kept it simple to just Tickers, but would you consider the second group, people that genuinely want to talk about what they had or merely as a means to beer dick swing? If so, my post would have been: Tickers. Dick swingers.
I lean toward the dick-measuring. If you just enjoy talking about beer, and trying, I can't think of a reason in the world you would want to try something so amazing (because it must be if you're doing THIS to try it) in such a poor way. You have to know it'll be a shell, and to me that has nothing to do with appreciation of the beer.
