That sounds a lot like what Greenpoint Beer Works (aka KelSo Brewing) was for the NYC beer scene ~5 years ago. I can't recall all of the alumni off hand, but head brewers and/or founders from Other Half (Sam), KCBC, SingleCut, Fifth Hammer, Magnify, and a whole host of others got their starts at the now-defunct brewery when it was one of the few avenues by which one could pursue a professional brewing career in the city. It's unfortunate that they couldn't stick around long enough to play a role in the vibrant beer landscape of today that they helped spawn, but frankly, the NYC beer scene has evolved so rapidly over the past half-decade that it'd be remarkable for any brewery that didn't open with the post-can-craze-hyper-local-no-distribution model in mind would be able to compete (or adapt... e.g., Sixpoint).

What's been so impressive to me over the past few months of production increase and general business evolution @OH has been the continuous improvement to quality. So many breweries suffer from quality hiccups (at best) or drops (at worst) during growth transitions, but OH seems to have been trending upward for the past year or so. The general consensus is that they're producing the best beer they've ever made today, at a time when they've increased production at least two-fold over the past 18 months. And with constant can availability imminent, I feel it time for us, as the official BA voice on the subject, to go on record as saying that maybe--just maybe--OH doesn't hate its locals?

I believe Greg Doroski (formerly of Threes) was also at KelSo when Matt and Sam were there.

    Plus Jesse from Interboro, again!

Also want to go on record that the silent/unannounced Mmm... Fruit drop last Friday further proves OH might be OK with locals (even though it sounds like it only happened because of a delayed label issue)

It's also possible they were being canned for an upcoming mobile release.

I hope not! I always got my GF to come so she could see and feed Gangsta...

However, None of the cats have been there. There used to be 3. I understand one cat not making it, but, all 3 sounds like they moved somewhere...

Was filling up a few growlers tonight and got a 4oz of the sour IPA ‘laid back’. Damn good. Minuscule points off for maybe a bit of overcarbonation, but otherwise very drinkable. Reminded me of a slightly less balanced Grimm pop. I’d definitely get that again.

I still maintain that the original batch of this beer was the best IPA that OH had made in years.

Interboro probably deserves more credit considering it was brewed there, but it was easily one of my favorite beers last year. Excited for round 2!
