I understand that this works for some, but I can't imagine doing it. Probably because I'm so used to eating every 2 - 3 hours (7 - 8 meals per day).

It's insane how much they eat. I weigh 8 times as much as my daughter, so I took one of her recent breakfasts and multiplied it by 8 to figure out my equivalent portions. Her breakfast was the equivalent of me eating...

    - 1 1/2 dozen eggs
    - 8 bananas
    - 8 slices of bacon
    - a half loaf of bread

And she still wanted to snack a few hours later.

I manage to visit the pub three times a week and lose about 2lb in the same time.
Just smaller meals from a smaller plate. But my pints are not smaller.20 ounces is good.

Declaration: almost three months since I (re)started my beer hobby, this time only NA. So I felt I didn't need to control it. Three beers practically every weekday, even more on weekends. You can calculate how detrimental that would be if they contained alcohol. But now it's the calories. Maybe long term also cost. So yesterday I started drinking water (!). Now I pour the water in a beer glass, so it can be slowly drunk, that appears to be the trick. Too little hydration has been a problem for me earlier.

Maybe two NA beers per day in the future, too good to go below that

I love RIS’s and DIPA’s, so when I’m having a second beer it’s a Guinness, it’s the best light beer out there.

I just don't drink soda, don't eat fast food and stay very mindful of sugar. That frees up lots of space for beer

I've been on a macro counting diet and I've dropped 30lbs whilst drinking craft beer . ... obviously my results would be better without it but it's possible

Depends on how hard you work and how much you stick to your diet.

I lost 45 pounds last year doing low carb and exercising. Meat, eggs, and vegetables.

If possible, running is incredibly hard on our legs, cycling, elliptical, or especially swimming is very low stress and works more muscle .

How much water is everyone struggling drinking? While too much can be fatal, just as easily as the opposite (slowly increase!), enough water can potentially flush out thousands of calories per day. It also flushes out minerals/ nutrients, mind you, which is why it can be dangerous. Obviously water weight will first increase (or only equal out lost, usually). Not all will, but many also may have to be more mindful of their teeth. Salivary glands will downregulate (the cause of "meth mouth" )and water will erode them faster than saliva .

To compensate for that, I'm guessing most members here could stomach if not genuinely enjoy a few cups of tea per day, powdered teas like "Matcha" are extremely bitter, and the leaves themselves (which are ingested) are essentially real/effective multivitamins. Don't bother with boxed/bagged teas in America, Davidson's (Amazon) is $10-20/lb and fresh ( sometimes years fresher). The influx of minerals seriously kicks in one's metabolism, and jittery/restless in a different sense than coffee.

I'm a one ~3,000 (eaten) cal dinner person, maybe cheese or meat at night (or "breakfast" if I didn't eat enough yesterday), but having a near-solely fatty breakfast puts your body in ketosis more-so than a fat lunch/dinner . I work on my poor feet, however only have gained ~15lbs with desk 9-5's .

    As for "drink vodka" .

Just given the alpha and beta acids/terpenes of hops alone, I'd doubt it would be anywhere near healthier. They are incredible antioxidants, anti-inflammatories, they are endocrine regulators, and great for a health and active GI system among others (presumably), that we're still learning about.

Lot of good ideas. Here's what's working for me (300lbs a few years ago. 250 and going down. 6'2")

Or, what I did for beer at age 50.

Reduced potato, pasta, cheese and salad dressing intake by 80%. Cut out fried foods.

Increased protein and vegetables to offset. Yogurt, chicken, salmon. A lot more fruit. Only processed foods are triscuits, granola, bbq sauce & dark chocolate.

Body resistance training 2-3 times a week. Pushups a wonderful thing.

Aerobics 3-4 times a week. 30-45 minutes at 80% MHR.

Portion control. Portion control.... Portion control. Math sort of simple for me. If I'm going to have 2-3000 calories of beer a week, I think of that as 400 calories a day I need in reduction. Usually this means a much smaller dinner every day of the week and a slightly smaller lunch. I don't skimp on breakfast.

A beer fast at least once a year. Just finishing up my longest ever, 52 days from Super Bowl to baseball opening day. On an entirely new belt hole.

Fixating on beer choices for Thursday.

I have a few pounds overweight, but since i cut out all fast food, chips and everything fat i started to lose weight. Now i hit the gym three times a week and lift heavy and i keep losing weight while i still drink moderate beer. Sometimes in the weekend a little more. But i never pig out. And i strongly believe that beer doesn't make you fat as long as you don't eat too much along with it.

You mentioned that you are a powerlifter. Just go SHW and eat and drink whatever you want. Take plenty of Dianabol, and by all means don't do any cardio.

Really though... You have a big advantage when it comes to weigh loss. You have more muscle and when you train you burn a ton of calories. Your total volume for one exercise is probably higher than most peoples total volume for their entire workout.

I used to compete in powerlifting, and I still Squat, Bench, and Deadlift. I would suggest a fairly strict diet during the week and then eating mostly whatever you want on the weekend. Calorie restriction will greatly impact your total. Make sure you are getting carbs before and after training. maybe add in a couple extra workouts/conditioning workouts. Drag a sled, sledgehammer training, hill sprints etc...

My experience has been that I didn't have to change a whole lot about my diet to get some results.

The perfect diet for powerlifting is basically chicken, PB and Js, pizza, and beer. Got the protein, fats, and carbs all covered.

One of my favorite meals was a PB and J using Pop Tarts as the bread.

I did low carb many times and I can tell you beer/low carb don't work together. If you want to roll with low carb and have a few drinks roll with diet soda and a mixed drink item with it. I always did rum and diet coke.
Honestly low carb sucks it basically is just water weight and the moment you go back to carbs it all comes back on and you probably lost a lot of muscle. I moved into better eating, no sugar, no snacks, and tons of water. I consume a good amount of beer but with my diet dialed in I keep my weight even. I also workout 5-6 days a week and have for most of my life so that also helps a ton, cheers.

It is great if you want to drop 10 pounds fast but its just water. I have done it more times than I can count. If the goal is long term weight maintenance least for me its proper diet and exercise. Calorie in calorie out as simple as that. If people want beer then you have to either up the exercise to offset or cut down on food side, its not hard at all really, you just have to be mindful of things. I also noticed my weight workouts suffered on low carb due to lack of energy, so that was another crap side of it since I had less energy going into things. Everyone is different and some may say it works great, each of us is different etc.
    Cheers

I beat Type 2 diabetes through diet while not giving up beer. I completely gave up soft drinks and had salads for lunch instead of sandwiches. The nutritionist advised offsetting the carbs in beer by having some dry roasted peanuts but I only sporadically did that.

I recently went vegetarian because I drink a lot and I know I can't continue eating burgers and pizza and drink like I do. I have veg friends who recommend brands or recipes and I'm a cook by trade so I can can pretty creative this helps me not gain mass weight while drinking because I'm already a large man at 6'1 275lbs so I can really put the weight on but this keeps me content and actually helps lose weight

I drink a ton of green tea and drink ceremonial matcha, just matcha powder and hot water, every morning so it's either that or beer.

When I drink i crave candy though that's a huge problem when I go to the liquor store I'm also buying several packs of starburst. Self control is huge for me personally
