I was totally shocked by this. Had off today and my eldest daughter texted the bad news. Brought tears to my eyes. I always watch Tony's shows. Loved his insight on culture, food and booze . . . including is sometimes irreverent comments. I have his Hong Kong episode taped and was looking forward to his future episodes. Tony RIP!

    - Enjoyed his show. Liked his narratives and seeing all of the places he visited.
    - IMO Despite living what seemed to be a great life and awesome job (traveling the world and getting paid to do so) he came across on TV as a generally miserable person with issues. His death doesn't surprise me, but it is quite sad.

So sad, but so true. Suicide rates are up significantly over the period since the internet has existed. There's just no replacement for live, in person interactions. Social media existence is not the same as actually knowing/talking to/interacting with live people. Not that that's why Bourdain killed himself, but it's still a real problem.

Need to rewatch The Big Short again to catch his cameo...

... and Margot Robbie in a hot tub has no effect on my decision either.

    RIP Bourdain.

I know what I'm doing tonight. Lagers and ramen and some No Reservations.

It was certainly apparent that he had demons. They were what made him so good. The best characters are the ones that are flawed, because they are the ones that are the most human and if Tony was one thing, he was human.

Always a guy I related to. Always seemed so honest and outspoken without being rude. Just threw his thoughts out there. Definitely refreshing in today's society of political correctness and a plethora of bad manners.

I just rewatched Parts Unknown season 8 episode 3 where he takes Eric Ripert to Sichuan province in China. One of my favorite episodes. He tortures poor Eric with spicy food and booze. They seemed to have a really genuine close relationship.

Celebrity news doesn't usually affect me but Anthony's death made me sad. I'm going to miss his him.

This is sad, Tony was a straight shooter. The thing I find odd is calling this a "suicide." Unless he left a note which I haven't read about it seems like he may have taken something and just passed in his sleep.. I guess we will learn more in the days to come.

I'll bet a cold, tasty beer that he was taking psychotropic drugs. You know, the ones that warn "...may cause suicidal thoughts..." Ditto Kate Spade.
And many of the mass shooters were also on them. After all, if you no longer care about your own life, why would you care about the lives of others?
Those drugs are dangerous and shouldn't be mass marketed like they're an easy solution to stress.

This sucks. Dude seemed to be most of all a really good human, someone who cared about others, about others' cultures, about fixing what was broken with himself, his craft, and his fellow humans. Also an incredibly talented writer. Mental health is hard. Drink some cold, local beer "with minimal fuss" and crush some noodles and animal proteins this weekend.

From the epitome in haute cuisine in Paris to dinner in a remote village in Madagascar, Bourdain took us there and did so in a way that made you feel that he saw eye to eye with the common man. The shows where he was truly in the "middle of nowhere" appealed to me the most.

And he preferred the local beer of the common man as a part of that experience with no pretense. There is life lesson there for us all.

I enjoyed Anthony's narrative style. He saw through bull shit and always sought out the authentic experience. He didn't just take you to the tourist highlights. He also had high regard for the unsung heroes of the restaurant, the cooks, servers.

He seemed to be one of the most honest celebrities on television, he wore his heart on his sleeve. He would have been fun to hang out with. It’s a shame he felt this was the best solution for his issue. Rest easy.

Big fan of Anthony Bourdain, he was a cool customer....

Sometimes drinking alcohol when we are already in a bad place digs us deeper - lets be self-aware....
