Good morning BA, have a great Saturday! Supposed to be raining today. Going to make a beer run again, because I am almost out of stuff to review.

Revisiting this one after 5 years. Glad we get them in MI now. This was insane! Amazing lasting head retention and thick soapy lacing on the glass. Aromas and flavors of huge dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, molasses, toffee, vanilla, bourbon, oak, toasted oats, nuttiness, and dark bread; with lighter notes of raisin, plum, fig, cherry, licorice, smoke, char, leather, tobacco, and herbal/peppery hops. Light herbal/char bitterness and bourbon/oak spiciness on the finish. Light-medium carbonation and very full body; with a very creamy, silky, velvety, and rich mouthfeel that is amazing. Light sticky hops, chalky roast, oak tannins, and increasing dryness. Mild increasing warmth of 9.4%, minimal barrel booze. This absolutely lives up to what I remember, as does the base beer last time I had it. Amazingly rich malt complexity, perfect barrel integration, and balancing earthy hops. One of the best Russian Imperial Stouts available. Will get again. Glad they are in 12 oz now.

Another 5 year revisit. Amazing Brett saision! Awesome lasting head retention and thick lacing on the glass. Aromas and flavors of big lemon, peach, pear, red apple, pineapple, melon, white wine, grapefruit, orange peel, peppercorn, coriander, clove, hay, straw, herbal, floral, and grass; with some wheat, crackery malts; light musty funk and yeasty earthiness. Moderate pepper yeast spiciness and herbal/grassy/citrus peel bitterness on the finish. Medium-high carbonation, medium body, and moderately crisp finishing. Balanced bread/grainy malt and sticky hops in the mouthfeel. Moderate increasing bitter/spicy and foamy carbonated dryness. Refreshingly smooth for 8%. They actually raised the ABV from 6.5% last time I had it! Regardless, still just as impressive. Amazingly well rounded Brett and saison yeast complexity; with a solid pale/wheat malt backbone.

    Cheers

The dogs got me up at 5 this morning, and thereafter it was a chilly walk...I need some coffee:

Absolutely beautiful day here on the farm; not sure what trouble I’ll get into. Have a great day, and cheers y’all!

Good afternoon Euro-dwelling BAs and good morning to our NA, CA, and SA drinkers. It's starting out cloudy with a promise of rain today so maybe no lawn shortening today! Last night I found a home for a couple of cases of poetry mags so they're saved from the recycling bin, at least for now.
    Today's New Breakfast Beer is:

An excellent gose with which to start the morning!

Two hours past breakfast and the morning outing. Everybody in the house has gone back to sleep but I'm up and raring to go . . .

Hazy light gold color with white cap and lacing.

Aroma of dank hops which is a term I rarely use but it fits here. I also get some hits of resin and something like grapefruit rind. No malt to speak of.

Taste is hop city which isn't surprising at 87 IBU. Don't know if I can taste hop levels that high but if I can this is my limit. Not flavor limit, I rather like it, just as far as my palate will wander in the hop shock department. I am noticing more grapefruit influence as the taste builds (and build it does) toward the finish. Surprisingly little bitterness for this hop level, I've had a much more bitter bite from lower IBU brews, and there seems to be a richness to the hop intensity.

    Medium texture with balancing carbonation.

Made with 6 different hops according to the brewer and it shows. Not a complex brew but the flavors are bold and literally in your face. If I had a mustache I believe these hoppy little rascals would hang around for quite some time. I don't find much malt presence at all, certainly not enough to corral the hops which run with the intensity of free range ponies.

I took a dose of C4 pre-workout to wake up this morning, so I can watch nursery rhyme videos on YouTube with my children, all day. This amazing beer will help with the journey.

I wish my kids wanted to watch cartoons. A 4-year-old with a smart TV remote is quite a dilemma.

Insane NE DIPA as always. Aromas and flavors of huge tangerine, orange juice, peach, apricot, pineapple, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, grapefruit, guava, lemon, citrus zest, berry, and light pepper/pine hops; with moderate wheat, white bread dough, light honeyed malt balance; and herbal, floral, grassy hop earthiness. Very minimal pine, herbal, grassy, spicy bitterness on the finish. Medium-full bodied bready/grainy creaminess in the mouthfeel. Slight hop stickiness, with a touch of increasing lingering bitter dryness. Zero hop astringency. Dangerously drinkable for 9.3%, minimal warming ABV. One of the absolute best in the style I've had, smoothness is unmatched. Pure citrus/tropical fruit juice hop flavors, with a touch of dankness. Never overly sweet or heavy feeling on malts for the body/ABV; perfectly balanced. Super soft mouthfeel. Old Nation definitely has the best MI NEIPAs. Got the last May batch until the fall last weekend, but still working on the March ones. Full Earth is pretty much just as amazing, and will be a go-to all summer. Very similar, but more citrusy and dank on hops.

2016 is tasting amazing! Flavors of big milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, nutty coffee, caramel, molasses, toffee, vanilla, bourbon, toasted oak, coconut, dark bread, and light smoke/char. Light roast/char bitterness and bourbon/oak spiciness on the finish. Light-medium carbonation and full bodied; with a very creamy, silky, velvety mouthfeel that is amazing. Minimal chalky roast and bourbon/oak tannin dryness. Mildly increasing warmth of 12.4%, zero barrel booze. Dangerously smooth sipping. Still a solid amount of coffee presence vs the 2015 I had last month. Barrel integration is basically perfect. This is my favorite vintage of the past 5 years, and the higher ABV probably has something to do with it.

The house sits atop a “tear drop” glacier deposit. The south and west sides have steep drop offs to the woods, fields, ponds and creek below. Very relaxing to sit and look at all the nature. Cheers!

Very nice NEIPA by Spanish brewery Garage. Dominated by zesty citrus notes with a good bitterness and mild hop burn in the finish/aftertaste.
