Good morning BA, have a great Sunday! Not much going on, another normal Sunday with bottle returns, laundry, and a grocery run later on.

World class as always, haven't had this in a while. Flavors of huge milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, vanilla, toffee, molasses, chili pepper, and toasted dark bread; with lighter notes of raisin, cherry, currants, smoke, char, and nuttiness. Bittersweet balanced roasted finish, mild pepper spice. Full bodied creamy/silky mouthfeel; lightly slick with a bit of sticky/chalky roast and spice notes. Slightly increasing roast/spice drying. Very well hidden ABV; minimal warmth, no booze. Great pepper balance with minimal heat. The different coffee is definitely noticeable. Quite a bit more fruity, nutty, and smokey for this one vs Nordaggios. Both are equally amazing.

2017 rum barrel edition apparently(but it's only 22% of the blend; 36% french oak/42% american oak). This was fantastic! Awesome lasting head retention and thick lacing on the glass. Aromas and flavors of big raisin, plum, fig, cherry, pear, red apple, red grape, peppercorn, clove, rum, toasted oak, and light banana; moderate caramel, brown sugar, and toasted brown bread malt balance; with lighter notes of oaken vanilla, herbal/floral/grassy hops, and yeast earthiness. Moderate peppery yeast, rum/oak tannin spiciness; and light herbal/grassy bitterness on the finish. Medium high carbonation, medium-plus body, and fairly crisp finishing. Balanced creamy/grainy malt, sticky hops/yeast, and oak tannins in the mouthfeel. Light-moderate increasing spicy/tannic/carbonated dryness. Very smooth, zero warming 10.5%. Really loved this one, but not any more than the base Grand Reserve. Awesome balace of yeast complexity and malts/sugars as usual; the oak is VERY prominent, but not overwhelming. For 42 dollars, I'll take the base beer over it all year. Was a wonderful experience otherwise. 4.23

Here's a new one for my books and is a remarkable find . . .

Dark brown color with ruby red highlights.

Aroma of dark toasty malt and dark ripe Mission figs with a light lacing of licorice.

Taste is dark malt with a cola like richness that brings together the malt, figs, licorice elements into a well balanced whole. The finish brings a touch of sweetness that lingers in the aftertaste just long enough to offset the malt roastyness.

    Happy rainy Sunday BA's

Was hoping to get the project sailboat out of the boathouse this weekend, but the rains have been persistent - going to go look at a larger outboard motor for my saucer boat in a bit....going to try and get a new cabin hatch made up out of cedar also today, for the Weekender - Boat Show is less than 2 weeks away now!

found this in my cellar while doing some clean up down there - Unibroue does it right

This is really fresh, bottled 6 weeks ago, and I believe this is not necessarily a bad thing for a fruited Lambic. It does indeed have an incredibly fresh and rich, almost juicy, tart cherry aroma and flavour, although it is somewhat lacking in complexity despite some light spice and wood notes.

I think most sours with fruit added are at their best fresh. To me, the fruit flavor fades first in something like Rose' de Gambrinus or Hanssens Oudbeitje... They can still be good, just not as vibrant. Had Rodenbach Caractere Rouge fresh on tap in Bruges and it blew the bottled version out of the water.

Fantastic Gose. Aromas and flavors of huge juicy/tart/tangy passion fruit, papaya, fruit skin, lemon, lime, orange, grapefruit, peach, apricot, mango, melon, guava, berry, sea salt, hay, straw, and grass; with moderate wheat, white bread, light honeyed malt; light lacto funk and yeast earthiness. Light-moderate fruity/lactic tartness, fruit tang; and light yeast spiciness on the finish. Medium carbonation, medium-plus body, and fairly crisp finishing. Balanced bready/grainy malts, lactic acid, fruit tang/tannins, and light salinity in the mouthfeel. Moderate increasing acidic/tangy/tannic fruit drying. No puckering. Insanely drinkable, 5%. Ended up buying a lot more after my review. First gose I've had from Mikkeller, and they nailed it. This is top tier stuff for the style. Super juicy fruit, balanced lacto complexity, and solid pale/wheat malt balance against acidity.

Amazing IPA as always. Aromas and flavors of big grapefruit, tangerine, lemon, peach, apricot, mango, citrus peel/rind, pepper, and pine hops; with moderate honey, toasted bread malts; and herbal, floral, grassy hop earthiness. Moderate pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, grassy, spicy bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation/body; balanced creamy/bready malt and sticky/resinous/rindy hops in the mouthfeel. Light-moderate increasing resin dryness, no hop astringency. Very drinkable and not overly aggressive. Even with the new hops they added for the 1.1 version, it still tastes like the original Chinook/Centennial hop profile the most. Hope we keep getting these fresh cans more often now. I will keep buying them. Perfectly balanced juicy and dank hop complexity; with a nice solid malt backbone. A true classic IPA. Pretty much just as impressive as the first time I reviewed it over 6 years ago. Will get more Arrogant cans soon as well.

Good morning BAs from this part on Pangaea and good afternoon for those of you who went sailing away! Today's New Breakfast Beer and soon-to-be NBS entry is:

A quite enjoyable take on a chocolate porter, despite being BBA.

@TheGent sent me my breakfast coffee this morning. I might have to have one more cup, just so I can wake up and get going today.

That’s a pretty big beer to start the day! Good luck making it through the cellar. I’ve done this a few times, and enjoyed it every time. Usually I will have my wife keep grabbing me random bottles or cans, and I drink whatever she brings, so it’s a crapshoot, haha!

    Some head!

Based on your review in NBS sounds like a nice way to start the morning. I actually thought about cracking mine open as well, but I opted for an actual cup of coffee.

I haven’t golfed once this year. I will twice in July for work though. The itch is strong.

I got Mrs. Z at the airport last night at midnight, returned home and thereafter slept in - took the dogs out at 6:30, and started drinking this beauty at 8:00...great stuff; notes to follow on NBS - Thanks Tim!

I have been having weird internet connection. The pic did not post initially, so I went back and edited the post. Yesterday while at Great Lakes I posted, but it did not post, which I found many beers later. It’s all good!
