That was actually a mistaken order. Meant to order a different poster but didn't catch I put the wrong one in the cart before it was too late. Turns out to be a good mistake, I ended up liking this one far more than the one I initially considered.

Mixin' time in McKownville NY.

My wife's not a big beer drinker but lately she's been enjoying "snakebites"... cider and beer mixed together. She'll use what ever beer I'll give her, so good opportunity to palm off some gift beer that doesn't interest me. I know a bunch of you would really like this Finback Static Breeze... but for me, beer can be as citrus-y as I would ever want it, just off of the hops... adding extra citrus flavor after the fact is just over-kill to my taste. But Amy liked it for her 'beer cocktail', tonight.



Not to be outdone, I mixed up this Brown's combo.



I had the black and tan effect going, but it settled out before I could get the camera ready.

 

It's been ridiculously hot here and after four continuous days of packing, moving, schleping, unpacking, I'm just exhausted. Thank god I have a patio to sit on, I don't think there's a single surface inside that isn't covered with some crap. This is my second 4-pack of this NEIPA from New Image, I like it despite my growing haze hatred.

This song has been playing inside my head on a continuous loop all day. I don't know why, but I figure if I'm going to suffer, others should too. You're welcome!

Excellent saison. Fantastic head retention and lasting thick lacing on glass. Aromas and favors of big lemon, lime, peach, pear, melon, red apple, coriander, peppercorn, clove, elderflower, hay, straw, herbal, and grassy hops/yeast; with some wheat, cracker, white bread, light honeyed backing; light musty funk and yeast earthiness. Moderate peppery yeast spiciness and herbal/floral/grassy bitterness on the finish. Medium-high carbonation, light-medium body, and moderately crisp finishing. Balanced bready/grainy malt and sticky hops/spice in the mouthfeel. Moderate increasing bitter/spicy/carbonated dryness, no hop/yeast astringency. Very flavorful/refreshing, zero warming 7.3%. Really great balance of well rounded Brett/Saison yeast complexity, lime/elderflower, and a solid pale/wheat malt backbone. Spot on style all around. Very vibrant flavors. 4.03

Light-moderate peppery yeast spiciness, herbal/grassy bitterness, and fruit tang/tartness on the finish. Medium-high carbonation, medium body, and moderately crisp/clean finishing. Balanced bready/grainy malt, sticky hops, fruit tang/tannins in the mouthfeel. Light-moderate increasing bitter/spicy/carbonated dryness. No pucker/astringency. Very smooth, minimal warming 9%. As usual, Bell's did a great job with this! Great balance of authentic jammy berry flavors, with a spot on Belgian Tripel profile of fruity/spicy yeast and pale malts. Would get again. 4

Cheers to Dan & Deb for 25 years of New Glarus!! I don't even know where to start with the complexity of this brew. A Belgian Quad that rested in Brandy barrels for an extended period. Notes of maple syrup used in the process can definitely be found here along with the traditional Belgian sugar aspect.

Only one brewmaster can pull something like this off to glorious perfection!
