What beer are you drinking now? #2064

Enjoying a breakfast beer while smoking a brisket & watching the World Cup. Who says men aren't good multitaskers?

Good morning and good afternoon BAs! Today's starting off foggy and cool, preping us for the winter monsoons, no doubt. Or at least for Sunday's arrival in Glasgow. We'll get there six hours (+/-) before the pubs open, so we'll have to find some way to waste the time - going through customs, wandering about the airport, finding taxis, eating breakfast, etc. Other than the cold rains, our experiences in Scotland have all been pleasant - that's why we're headed back again.

Today's New Breakfast Beer:



A fairly local brewer who has since changed their name from Draai Laag to Strange Roots Experimental Ales. So far, my experience with them has been underwhelming, but they have a newer brew, Grand Bru, brewed with peaches and Penicillium roqueforti that sounds interesting.

 

Testing the breakfast beer theory and this one passed . . .



Hazy golden color with white cap.

Tantalizing aroma of fresh hops captured in a burst of lemony, zesty, citrusy clarity with a touch of pineapple and pine resin. Darnedest combination but that's what I'm getting.

Taste on entry is a more pine/pineapple (that combination again) surge up front yet that's layered on a deeper and more complex hop group the whole of which comes across as bracing, refreshing and tasty. Malt is in there but I get it more as a texture than a flavor.

Medium texture with balancing carbonation.

Brewer calls this a New England Style Pale Ale to which I can't say as I haven't had enough of the style upon which to base a full comparison. I can say this has a pleasing texture and overall juiciness that makes it a pleasure to drink.

 

Great Father’s Day weekend starter. Possibly 5 baseball games this weekend. Cheers

 

This 4Noses Whimsy ("NEIPA") went down pretty well with my omelet this morning. Very solid - reminds me of a lighter Forbidden Root offering, only slightly watery and with just a touch of sweetness but they are putting out great beer.

Only regret today is I wish I had cable or better options than crappily streaming WorldCup.
Sling is OK, but it just catches once in a while..even with high speed internet. Meh.


(what... it's the same name as the beer).

 

That beer is looking so good right now! Love this style more and more as I have them.
