The last time they released this beer was a Wednesday and the same format (tweet it out day of). I would imagine this is the same.

Very doubtful it gets released tomorrow. It’s the Iowa Brewers Guild Iowa Craft Beer Festival, and I don’t think they’d plan it for the same day. I agree with 7/1. That gives a few more weeks for them to stroke their ego by getting everyone all worked up with mysterious tweets every night.

So, just out of curiosity, I have to ask something. Isn't this release strategy horribly mean to people who will be driving several hours from out of state in the middle of the night just to learn by the time they get there that all the beer is spoken for by the amount of people in line? Doesn't TG know people from out of state will be driving through the night to get in line and doesn't TG know there won't be enough SR-71 for those folks? I can't imagine getting the tweet at midnight, leaving Chicago for example, and getting to Decorah at 5:30 in the morning just to learn there are already 750 people and their mules in line (presumably more than the bottle count), and then turning around and driving the 5.5 hours back home empty handed.

Know? Shit, I think they relish that.

Last time they did the same style of release for SR71 and it lasted multiple days at over 1,000 bottles. So I don't think it will sell out prior to opening on day 1 this time around.

It's 2018 bruh. Neckbeards would drive a schoolbus full of children off a cliff if that got them a thimble-sized pour that they could post on Untappd/Instagram.

Things are a little crazier now, but at the time KBBS/Assassin were just as hyped as they are now, selling for $500+.

And they have increased capacity now as well. Not sure if that’ll translate to more of a beer like SR-71, but it seems like we could expect to see a bit more production of it?

This kinda of leads me to my point. I doubt TG will announce bottle count, so out of staters are totally in the dark as to the decision of whether to make the drive or not based on chances of more than bottle count worth of people being in line by the time they arrive. It all goes back to what @DriftlessFarmer posted above. They relish the uncertainty and frenzy it seems. Just strikes me as in poor taste. I get the whole hype your beer to sell your beer because you're a business thing, but knowingly harming customers to create more hype than you actually need is where the line is crossed.

I don't really disagree with this but I think it's a pretty generous use of the word "harming." Anyone who chooses to make a long drive to Decorah in hopes of buying SR-71 knows the proposition and is prepared to walk away empty handed or score some bottles to enjoy and share and/or sell/trade at a massive profit. Even striking out I imagine a lot of people are going to go and enjoy a day or two in Decorah drinking a bunch of other TG/PR beer and doing a share in line and stuff like that. Anyone who doesn't want to invest the time/effort/money at the risk of missing the release can stay home, no harm done.

Again, that's on the customers who have elevated beer to the point where they're willing to forgo the rest of life in order to obtain it.

As I've said before, I think it's crappy on TG's part, but at the end of the day TG isn't forcing anyone to act like a complete lunatic and do really irrational things for beer.

Except thier own statements....doesn't seem like a good business move to throw out dates and timelines and not have the follow through

Yes they did, and yes it is, and I'd still say they need to shit or get off the pot re: this LAST MINUTE MIDNIGHT MILITARY METAPHOR tactic. They're still jerking people around.

Word on the street is that the bottles have been filled but not waxed yet, so to anyone still holding out hope for a release this weekend, I think the chances are almost zero.

7/1 is sounding mighty good. We know how Clark likes his holiday weekend releases.

I'm hoping for a SILENT release like 2014 Assassin. No tweets, no one said anything, keep it hush hush.
