I still have a 2014 version in my fridge. I hated this beer then (the oak made it awful), I can’t imagine it got better.

 

I live ten minutes away and have never tried it. So I’ll probably give it a go.

 

LOL so do I! I guess alpine and the others who replied to my post didnt find it funny about sharing a 2014 bottle together..

 

This beer is as relevant as Alpine /GF these days, is it even brewed by OG Alpine? As Gunz would say, zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

I had it in 2015 at the pub and absolutely loved it. Don't remember the oak part.

 

It is clearly stated in the description.

 

Ah. No subtle skepticism there. Just earnest no-rememberism.

 

I, too, remember nothing remotely oaky about it.

 

In fairness when I first tried it I didn’t know it had oak. When I tasted it I thought it was awful, because I was expecting an alpine ipa. I even went back a week or so after and asked if they had any infection issues and was told no, and got a taste, which was the same awful taste I got originally.
I am hoping when I do open my other bottle it will have some oak aged barley wine qualities, if not it will be a quick drain pour.
