I refuse to pair beers with foods. If I'm eating, I'm drinking water alongside it. If I'm drinking beer, I'm drinking beer. These roads don't intersect for me.

I'm the opposite, almost never drinking any beer without food. I might drink up to half a beer before eating something to get an idea of the flavors, but rarely the whole thing. To me it seems rather unlikely that the first brewers (BC/CE) intended their creations to not be consumed with food. Or any brewer since for that matter. Water is the only liquid I drink between meals/without food.

Whoa. Sparkling water works, right? Then move to hard sparkling water. Then back to beer.

But you reserve the right to ride on roller coasters and go to ice cream stores, right? So as long as no one interrupts with your little beer "hobby" time?

Those with beer cellars are really stamp collectors entering a new phase in their lives

I haven't been to an ice cream store in 20+ years.

And I don't ride roller coasters because I'm 6'3", 200 pounds, and prefer not to kill my shoulders on a machine I have to pay 100$ to stand in line to ride.

This thread is called "Controversial Beer Opinions"... kids in breweries is controversial on this site. You're entitled to your opinion as I am mine. My opinion: I prefer dogs and cats in breweries to most children, as I have more interaction with bad children in breweries than bad dogs/cats.

There are no bad dogs/cats, just bad dogs/cats owners.

It's also fewer ounces than a six pack but apparently you're a "glass half full" kind of guy so kudos.

Your popcorn comment was an admission on your part that you were trying to incite. So I responded, not in defense of children, but as an attack on beer hobbyists...who I controversially loathe.

Unsure if I consider myself a hobbyist or not... I certainly spend my fair share of money on craft beer.

I'm fairly sure my initial comment came on the heels of a thread DEDICATED to "kids in breweries - yay or nay", hence the popcorn comment.

I'm a little tired of going to the store to see what's new and see 1000 versions of an NE IPA. There is no way all are good, and I've been burnt out on the style for quite some time. Flame away.

Well - sure, you can get a sixer of any number of beers for less than $16 if you don't care what it is, but many of the better beers come in 4-packs to try to hide the fact that they're more expensive. I tend to drink imperial and/or BA stouts that often come in singles, 4-packs, and bombers - but almost never sixers. If lowest cost per ounce (drunk for the buck) were the goal, I'd buy 36 packs of generic AAL "beer".

Agree with the goal but not the means. Just seems like we’re the ones feeding the beast when it comes to price point. I’ll splurge on a BA stout occasionally but most of these hyped NEIPAs (at twice the cost) aren’t even as good as two hearted to me. I’ve been doing this for a while so the novelty has worn off a bit.

While this is true, it is also true that there are no good cats.
