The old labels/bottles used to be just that. The new ones? Not even close imo.

Yes, but it was later in prior years IIRC. Closer to the August timing you mentioned.

I agree. The old label was the epitome of regal IMO.

The new bottles are trying to be, but they aren't achieving it IMO. Same with the new logo (letter shapes and the curve of the words).

It reminds me a ton of that cheap beer that used to come in those old green swing top bottles with the same raised lettering.

Grolsch? haha.. I dunno, I guess I can see that, but I like them.. And the raised lettering in the glass is really cool too.

Wish they hadn’t locked the Josh Noel book thread. The links posted as duplicative aren’t nearly the same discussion.

Sorry don’t know where else to put it

Which is sort of funny, since it seems like all of the adjuncts are added post-barreling the last few years and thus wouldn't be all that hard to make more of. (As always, I could be wrong.)

You are not wrong but I think the thought has always been lets just get as much regular into bottles as possible. Rumors started last year that the hope was eventually they could release BCBS in waves all through the year. So why not make more variants? Why just do them on the one day? Other than the obvious "OMG LES BEEER EQULZZ MOAR HYPEZZ!". It'll be interesting to see how the variants work once they are making a ton of the stuff.

my problem with the bottles is that, frankly, I don't want to nor often times can I drink that much high-octane beer by myself in one setting. it's just too much. i don't have the luxury of having a wife that drinks it (that's probably a good thing), so my option is either drink it by myself and feel like crap or pour the remaining 3-4 ounces.

I have no problem drinking the whole bottle myself...if it's the only beer I have that night. The problem comes when I've had 2+ other beers and then I drink a whole BCBS by myself. Especially if it's a weeknight. I've found myself opening a BCBS at 10 pm or later, and it's kinda like feeding a gremlin after Midnight.

Yeah I'm sitting on 15-17 BCBS' because I just don't want to open one alone.

The 2015 I opened I did not finish in one sitting. I could have, but since I have really cut back on my drinking, getting 12 ounces in definitely had be feeling very happy. So I saved the 4oz (with just the bottle cap - not evenness vacuum stopper) until the next day.

Didn't taste oxidized at all. After it warmed up, it didn't have the slight flatness that I noticed when it was cold, either.

Unless I start it early enough, this will be my go to plan from here out probably.

I should just steal some of those Hermetus sealers and use those.

just curious (it's never stopped me really (especially when I put down 3 8.5 abv ipa's), but how many calories are we talking with a regular BCBS 16.9 oz bottle? It's gotta be at least 500.

That's how I deal with 16.9oz stouts. Half one day, half the next and to be honest, it usually is more complex the next day.... The 4 packs was great, but I don't think we are going back to that.

Basic formula for beer calorie count as I understand it is 3 calories per ounce for each % of ABV. So at nearly 15% (45 calories per ounce), a 17-ounce bottle comes to something like 750 calories.

    But hey, it's fat free!

I just started to amass so many bottles that I would not want to drink alone on a weeknight, and my wife typically does not like BA beers. So no help there. Even on a weekend, many of the bombers are a total chore to finish solo for me. My solution, as I needed to start clearing stuff out and couldn't keep waiting for "special occasions" or shares, is to drink half, then pop it in the fridge with a wine stopper. If I'm not feeling lazy I'll get out the little Rabbit wine stopper that you can pump the air out and seal. On big stouts, this method has worked well for me. Might even open a BCBS tonight actually. Possibly a '15 because @Beer_Economicus has inspired me.

I was under the impression that a 12oz 12ish% ABV beer is around or north of 450. This makes sense - a glass of wine is 4-6oz, and runs around 130-170 calories. So, having 3 of those in a 12oz bottle would be about right. So, in a 16.9oz BCBS, I've assumed that It's pushing 700.

Someone in one of the beer-talk forum threads (I think the one a week or two ago about "Do people actually lose weight by drinking while dieting?") noted a formula to calculate calories in a beer. It was rough, but effectively X calories * ABV % for 1oz of beer. Then, from there, you could obviously multiply by the number of ounces you are drinking. I can't recall the formula, though.
