Not to beat a dead horse about the book, but the move to 16.9 was partially meant to make BCBS more special than the typical 12 or 22. So I would be surprised with a format change

They were experimenting with coffee infused barleywine during the dodgeball event. I wouldn't be surprised if we see that this year. I'm also guessing it's about time for another vanilla (hoping it's a four year cycle).

Based on some insider info, don't get your hopes up for another couple of years. I'm not saying it's not happening, I'm just saying as of not so long ago, there were no plans for this year or next.

2.5 x % x Size is a good estimate. Call it 15% that bottle of BCS 633.75 cals.

I would do this, but frankly i get bored. I typically don't like drinking big, BA'ed beers on back to back days.

(my God do I sound high maintenance)

Barleywine with coffee sounds good. Cruz Blanca did a barleywine with coconut that was delicious. I would like to see less Regular and more variants. I still see regular sitting on the shelves.

I think it makes total sense to hold off on the announcements until they start bottling the variants given the past two years things haven't gone as planned for what was actually released. I don't think anyone is going to pass on these because they didn't announce it far enough out...

They also had put BCBS barleywine through a randall with coffee beans at Fobab 2012 or 2013 and people were raving about it...

So, probably just a fun event thing they do.

I’m doing the same thing but now I’m getting down to my last 25-30 22oz bottles and their BL, AC, Black Gold, Prop 17, the higher quality bottles, so starting to feel a little guilty solo’ing them. Need to have a share or two soon.

I'll have to search through my history, but I can't think of a wheatwine I've ever liked....

    EDIT: oops...I liked this...

Pilgrim's Dole is pretty damn good.

More surprising than a wheat wine "variant" (WTF do we call this?) is that not one of you maniacs have started the 2018 BCBS thread. You're all a disappointment.

    Let the wheat whining begin....

I have a hard time believing that GI has run out of ideas for BCBS at this point and wheat wine is uninspiring. It's so close to barleywine. Are they not releasing barleywine this year? Or are they releasing the 2 year barleywine and it is so similar to regular barleywine they needed some substitute something for 1 year so that people won't complain that 2 year and 1 year were to close in flavor despite big price differences? At the very least the wheatwine should have been aged in former use BCBS barrels and not bourbon....
