if allotment is for at least 150 people - it should last at least 60 minutes, but you'll probably be at 1pp.

When it comes to Troon releases I think the term "If you are reading this it's too late" probably applies.

So funny. Literally every release for me starts with the words “Update: sold out...” before I even read the release details. But I do like reading the panicked Insta comments of people hoping to get there on time.

my only regret is that my Instagram alerts are broken. I have them set up for a handful of accounts, but they never come through.

IG comments are fucking hilarious though.

There's a chance but I live 35 minutes away and have never missed a release if I leave once I get the notification

Will be having a drink at the tavern tonight if anyone wants to grab a beer!

I picked a good night to go to the tavern. This stuff is good, keg was tapped well before he opened.

ps: whoever has the trade hookup with the bartender, slide my digits to him

So I work less than 30 mins away. Left for troon shortly after the announcement yesterday, and waited in line for my first time ever for a new beer release. Ultimate verdict: Troon's beer is very good. But you can get it on tap regularly at brick farm. And the can yesterday was not substantially better, if at all better, than other widely available options that don't require the time and effort of running over there. So I just don't get it.

Also, line etiquette was very good but there was one guy whose wife showed up with a small kid after he had been there for 20 mins or so. At least 50+ people behind him at that point. Then she left, and came back after he made it into the building. I am surprised people did not complain about that. I did not care but if I was a line regular it would bother me.

If it's who I think it is, she's a regular. With the kid and the heat, I'd rather her take care of that rather than stand outside with the kid in the heat. She showed up and waited, she should get beer, imo. just doing the rest of us a service but not having to deal with her kid in a small space or in the line. As long she arrived with him.

    but that's just my opinion.

Agreed. Had someone called them out and they explained "we all got here at the same time but I'm not making my kid stand in the heat" that would definitely be reasonable. But the snippets of conversation I overheard seemed to indicate she was only first arriving when he was already in the middle of the line. I couldn't care less, just was a bit noticable to me, and the woman behind me sort of grumbled a bit about it.

I couldn’t agree more about your point that the beer is not really much better if at all than many other local options. I like Alex a lot and had pretty much every beer pre-crowlers and maybe the first couple crowlers release. Great stuff. But I really don’t get the race to line up to buy a couple 32 oz crowlers when he releases one beer, especially when you can easily buy cans or growlers from many other places. I’m patiently waiting for the hype to eventually die down.

I much prefer Troon's beer to anywhere else in the state. There is nothing even close to his quality within comparable distance to me, especially not places that will sell it canned.

So I guess it works out for both of us, since you're happy to stand in line and able to get each Troon release and I'm happy to easily get beer from Conclave, Carton, Kane, etc. When I can easily get Troon releases, I'll be happy to go back.

I agree, but being 25-30 minutes away it is a tough sell to spend an hour driving (sometimes during rush hour) for 2-3 crowlers of beer. I have conclave about the same distance away where I can get a bunch of pours, growlers and occasionally cans.

Hopefully he figures out a way to maintain quality and have beer around a bit more often, I'm willing to wait on that.

Yeah, I live South of Troon so all of those are well over an hour drive. and their beer isn't quite as good, to me that is.

I am lucky enough that my schedule often aligns with Troon's so it's quite easy.

And to me, those breweries’ beers are as good plus they always have more options available at the brewery, some I can buy at the store, AND they all have options with lower ABV than 8-11% which I am often looking for. Like I said, works out for both of us. Again, I’ll gladly go back to Troon if and when the hype dies down. Happy to include that with my other purchases.

How's Feral Faun stack up against other recent DIPAs?

And I'm surprised there's not more chatter about Alex mentioning that they're moving to a bigger production system, that this was the last batch on the smaller one and they're going to scale up output slowly.

eh, he's upgrading his smallest fermenter - not production system. production system would be the brew house.

now if he said he was jumping to a 15bbl brew house and 30bbl fermenters - that would definitely increase the chatter lol
