Sent a package to PA via FedEx recently and the box was confiscated. Nothing broken, using my best box and packing material (didn't want the Fundamental Forces to break) and for whatever reason some jackwagon did a box check.

Didn't get much feedback from the local shop. They told me they'd send it back...twice. After six days, seven calls - voicemails and live people, I was notified by their Salt Lake City location that they couldn't ship it back due to contents.

Worse than that, the guy that I was trying to swap boxes with had another package due in the very next day and he told me that box was confiscated as well. He'll be in a bigger predicament than me if he's been flagged by some justice leaguer at FedEx. This sucks. Suppose it's time to use UPS, use "shakers" or just play the IP game.

Interesting you bring this up. My last beer trade I shipped via Fed-Ex and the box was partially opened up and checked. They did deliver it and everything was there but it appeared like they are now checking. My box went to NJ.
Maybe its time to go with UPS. I sure hope this is not some new issue, it would really mess up trading.
Cheers and maybe others can post if they had issues also? Curious to see

I write, "Fragile Barbecue Sauce" on any box with beer that I ship. Usually USPS. Never a problem. But we do live in some mighty righteous times.

Boxes have and will continue to be opened up randomly by DEA in agreement with Fed-Ex and UPS. They are looking for meth, pot and opiods not beer.

This sucks if true. I have an RTP in Pennsylvania that I regularly send to using FedEx.
What city were you sending to?

City is important. For a while, my local fedex driver thought he was a hero and was regularly opening my boxes and confiscating the contents. Maybe he just wanted beer, but it almost always went back to the sender intact. They'd resend it using UPS and there was never an issue. That was 3 years ago. I'm back on FedEx and never had an issue, even after all the horrible stuff that happened in Texas. Curious where the package was heading....

I traded with a gentleman in Colorado that puts a marinade company label on his boxes. Pretty clever.

People ship weed, H, and Coke in the mail every single day yet they are wasting all this time and energy policing Pastry Stouts and NEIPA's! My lord no wonder our postal service is dying!

I gave up on Fed Ex - too pricey. Instead I use flat rate USPS (two boxes if I have to [which is still cheaper than Fed Ex!]). Anyway, I tell them it’s olive oil, they stamp fragile on it, and it gets across the US in two days.

Well that particular agency may not be but state and/or other federal agencies may be (not to mention the private companies who don't want to violate their internal policies, which sounds like the case here).

That is true about private companies and their internal policies and federal laws. they would much rather get a "proof of Delivery" than not however.

Thanks for posting and the heads up. I’ve shipped about 100 prelabeled boxes in the past 2 years... mostly FedEx from two primary locations (one by work and one by home). I’ve never been asked “what’s in the box?” And then I shipped two boxes last week and the two separate each asked “what are we shipping today?” Coincidence? Maybe.

I’m wondering if it’s some policy changes after the issues in Texas?

Strange.... In the other FedEx thread people mentioned issues with FedEx and PA

    Wonder what the deal is?

For what it's worth, I've had numerous boxes shipped to me in PA via Fedex. I'm in the southeast, Philly burbs, for reference.

Any recent info about whether or not shipping to PA is a concern? I'm about to ship a box to PA (Philly suburb) and I normally use Fedex.

I ship to the burbs pretty regularly (Media/Wayne) via fedex and have never had a problem. I plan to ship another box in a couple of weeks and am planning on using fedex (as always).

Other side of the state so YMMV but I’ve sent/received 10+ boxes in Pittsburgh via FedEx over the past 2 months with no issues.
