I've not shared thoughts in this forum before but could not hold back today. I'm a member of several wine and food groups, a few of which I've introduced to craft beer. In fact, it's become a bit of a new practice to start or end one of our wine tastings, lunchs or dinners with beer. Today we had a Rhone wine lunch and during the meat course I also opened a new Black Tuesday and we carried it over to also drink with dessert. The 2012 Black Tuesday was great with our Roasted Venison with Figs, in a Cinnamon sauce. The BT also carried over even better to the Orange-Ricotta Cheese Cake (it was a light and somewhat "airy" but very flavorful preparation). The BT paired wonderfully and make quite the hit with the meat and dessert.
Yes, White Chocolate was a surprise when drunk with savory dishes. However, I had to open at least a couple of bottles of BT as soon as I got my allocation. The fact that it went with the venison was simply another surprise! Oh the glory of it all! (But, I was also the guy that found the pairing of Pliny the Younger, when you could still get growlers about 3 years ago, to be wonderful with Krispy Kreme donuts! Try it! A real hoppy beer with glazed donuts - it's amazing!) Go figure.
