I may have missed a post somewhere that amended the scope, but the original one I saw says "Big North is not only the best beer festival in Illinois, but the best in the Midwest".

I've never been, but based on others' descriptions, it does honestly sound like one of the best (to me). Huge pours, short lines, not super overcrowded, etc. I've gotten to the point in my beer nerdery that an event that features less whales but is more fun/comfortable is vastly preferable to one stacked with whales, but that's also stacked with long-ass lines.

I'd probably have bought tickets if they weren't as expensive as FoBAB

I was dead-set on buying tickets, but I'm busy that weekend, of course. I skipped DLD and some other stuff this year, so I owe myself a good beer fest.

My wife got one of those free tattoos. Pretty sure she regrets it now but it was icing on the cake last year.

Wait they had free tattoos at a beer festival? So many questions. And I thought the axe throwing 2 years ago was a potentially bad idea.

This just became a festival I need to stay clear of, my wife gives me shit about my beer hobby, but if I came home with the sticky fat bear on my calf I’d be choosing between going dry and being single.

I don't want a tattoo, but that would make the fest's price make more sense.

I agree, I grabbed a 4-pack yesterday, and have really enjoyed it so far.

Then your friend isn’t looking very hard. Half Acre is basically the the second biggest local option behind Goose Island.

It’s not uncommon to walk into restaurants and see 4 taps available. Bud Light, Guinness, Goose 312, Half Acre Daisy Cutter.

i think saying “best”, is getting into a weird area where you just compare every keg/layout extras other fests have.

All I can say, is that Half Acre parties, going back to their anniversary parties, are consistently the beer event that I have the most fun at each and every year, and it’s usually not even close.

I hope one day they'll do a party like Throw again. Maybe their invitational will be similar, but Throw was so amazing.

I'm in complete agreement it is strange to be in Chicago and never heard of Half Acre, but just for my own clarification, is HA #2 or are they at 3 behind Rev?

If you can't find Half Acre's beer in Chicago, I find it hard to believe you're leaving your house.

Technically Rev is number 2. Or #1 independent.

One of three things is happening. Your friend is an idiot, your friend is lying, or your friend has never stepped foot out of his house. There is one half acre beer in every bar in Chicago. Usually on tap.

Ya half acre is probably, outside of Goose Island, the most prominent brewery we have.

Fourth tap is usually Anti-Hero, which is the better beer so I'm cool with that....
