    Decent but short piece. http://www.foodandwine.com/beer/foreign-objects-beer

From article: "Credentials like these would seem to be an obvious jumping off point for promoting a new venture, but Foreign Objects decided to take the opposite approach. “We’ve really wanted to keep the attention on the beer and the artistic vision behind everything we do, from the ingredients to the packaging,” explains Czarnetzki."

May have to take a ride into New Paltz tomorrow to see if there is any activity at the address they list as their own.

I don't know, both of the FO beers I had were ok.....nothing special, just ok. I had Fascination Street and Green Galaxy.

Dave, please report back what you learn.

Do you have much experience with the various Foreign Objects beer brands? So far I have only had two draft glasses of two different beers. I thought those two beers were very good (but pricey).

    Cheers!

I had a can of Death Posture last week and was very impressed; enough so that I'll probably pick up anything else I see from Foreign Objects. I'm also very intrigued at the possibility that maybe there is (or will be) a taproom or something in New Paltz?

I've had four different ones so far. Liked them all, but they are not as in my wheelhouse as others from this area.

Was out scouting new spots for morels, just now returned, and did pass by the FO address on N. Ohioville Rd. Still no activity I can see.

"So far, they’ve been operating as a “gypsy brewery,” producing its beers on equipment at Shmaltz Brewing in Clifton Park, New York. But that’s about the change. What’s happening next, well, unsurprisingly, Czarnetzki said they’ll keep that under wraps for now."

I suppose we need to await the unwrapping?

    Cheers!

The listed address is hard to tell which building it is, as it corresponds to a few large, older houses, none of which has a number, and a group of mailboxes that serve multiple dwellings while identifying none of them. The one building that I thought might be it, due to it already looked to be commercial usage, and had a large parking area, is not it. They put out a sign now saying they are a nursery, which makes sense as there are greenhouses across the street from it.

I will keep us all updated as anything happens to report.

Picked up a 4-pack of Dreamtime Haruspex, canned 4/20/18. Drank a couple cans so far and I thought it hit the spots I want in a DIPA. Had the great aroma and nice mouthfeel like a NEIPA, but had the underlying bitterness and dank flavors of a West Coast IPA.

I've enjoyed all of the Foreign Objects I've had so far (especially Mind/Body/Light/Sound), but Ritual Colors really missed the mark for me. I rarely drain pour, but I've now drain poured the first 2 of my four pack. Thought maybe my palate was off the first time. Less than a month old and major floaties. Everything about it just seems off. Not sure if it's one of those beers you have to drink within the first 2 weeks because the 4.08 Untappd rating makes no sense.

I had two cans, one I drank on June 10th and the other one on Thursday, the 28th, and there was a pretty big fall off. I had floaties both times, being an unfiltered DIPA that’s always a possibility, but the one I drank the other night had a ton of them and the flavors were certainly muted. It was still good, mind you, but the one I had on the 10th was, imho, phenomenal.

Honestly, I haven't had any one of their cans that I thought was more than above average, and the one draft pour I had (Color of Pomegranates) tasted straight up like Flintstones vitamins.

I'll still give their more straightfoward IPA another few shots on tap, but I just haven't gotten the hype at all.

Is there hype? We are only on 2 pages here. One reason I think they’re great is in the context that they’re shelfies.

I guess "hype" may be a bit of a strong word, its not like people are chasing trucks or trading for them, and obviously BA/untappd ratings should be taken with many grains of salt, but based on responses there is seems like a lot of people are enjoying them far more than I.

Not that there's anything wrong with that, I just feel like I haven't seen anybody else have a similar experience.

Frankly I think what I enjoy about the foreign objects beers are what’s out of favor with the haze bros... actual bitterness and finish very dry. Imagine that...

Foreign Objects beer just showed up here in Northern Virginia. I absolutely love the 3.5-week-old cans of The Hanging Garden we got. The NEIPA thing but with West Coast dank and bitterness. The new "balanced" beer perhaps. It hits all the right notes for me.

had a ritual colors today... had been in my fridge too long, so was full of floaties and chunks unfortunately, but tasted pretty good still... haven't seen a new drop in NYC for over a month.

Hanging Garden was out and about. IMO you didn’t miss much if you didn’t get that one.

Serious question. What does being in the fridge for a long time have to do with your description of the beer?

The new Hazy IPAs tend to go from glowing to full of snow in about a month or so. So he let it sit for too long and it turned into something else.

exactly - all the suspended hops/yeast/protein had settled to the bottom and when poured there were unappetizing looking chunks and bit floating in the beer. I suppose "being in the fridge" has nothing to do with it, but I was referring to the age more than anything else...
