I don't recall seeing a limit, but I'm not sure of that. Mistral is very good, but I prefer hometown blonde. It tastes very similar to summit Keller pils, which is very easy for me to get and much cheaper. But drinking one right now, I would definitely buy again.

Do you prefer Hometown or Zwickel?

I haven't had Zwickel yet, unfortunately

Last week Mistral was still at 2 4pks per person. Very delicious take on a bohemian pilsner.

Zwickel, Hometown Blonde and Mistral are all stellar but I'll take Yokel over all 3!

Not soon enough. What has it been 5 years since it came out?

Does anyone think it is weird that it is listed as a sour brown on thr NG website? My memory is fuzzy, but I am almost sure it was a sour blonde last release.

Nope. NG definitely used dark malt and called it a brown on the label. The beer itself was a ruddy brown color.

Cool thanks for the correction. No idea what beer I was thinking of, then. Maybe just wishful thinking.

It definitely didn't drink like a brown though. It was so delicious & refreshing I could put them down like Coors Light on a hot summer day. Can't wait for it to make its return.

I remember it being excellent, and yes, I agree it did not drink like a brown. I think that is probably where my memory is confusing things. Thanks.

Heading up for the hard hat tour on Friday. Did I read correctly that they still have R&D beers in the depot?

Ladies/Gents, I have a few quick questions. I’ve been out of the trading loop for awhile and miss the hell out of the NG fruit beers.

-Can you still get all 4 varieties (Serendipity, Belgian Red, Raspberry Tart, Strawberry Rhubarb) in 750’s?

-They do still make Serendipity, right?

-I know they’re seasonal but is it pretty easy to find all 4 varieties right now or is it pretty much whatever is in “season”?

    Thanks in advance!

I'm sending out a box today with 750s, I was told by several shop owners that NG is all 12 oz 4 packs moving forward for fruit beers and there will be no more 750s. At least that is what their sales reps are saying. Red is around and Serendipity too but it was harder to find than I thought. Did it see Raz 750s anywhere and SR has been gone for years. The only year round 4 packs are red and Raz but Raz is getting hard to find. Serendipity scarce in 4 packs, Cran Bic is around too in MKE. SR not around at all. NG website has a release calendar to see the release windows.
    Cheers

I haven't seen the 750s, but I assume there are places where you could still find them around Wisconsin. Right now they're being brewed and bottled in the 4-pack of 12 oz bottles only.

    Yes.

I've had no issue finding Serendipity, Begian Red, or Raspberry Tart. Those are the three standard fruit beers. I haven't seen SR in a while, but did find some cranbic recently so that might be floating around if you are looking/trading for it.

Thanks for the replies! Bummer to hear about SR and I wish they would still do the 750’s but oh well. Those beers are fucken’ delicious( you guys are spoiled) I may have to make a road trip and load up the car.

I might be in Dubuque soon. Is there a particular spot close to over the border to grab New Glarus? I know any gas station, but just wondering about a Woodman's-like beer palace?

Also, how about Dubuque area brews? Anything to recommend?

I'm from Dubuque so hopefully I can help.

Less than ten minutes across the border from Dubuque is the Kieler Mall Truck Plaza. If you are looking for any shelf New Glarus, this would be your place to go.

The closest town I've seen any of the fruit beers they don't have in Kieler floating around was Hazel Green. Nothing fancy, just a gas station.

As for beer in Dubuque, there still isn't a lot, but it's getting better. Jubeck's is my favorite current brewery. It's tiny, but a nice place with some decent beers. Seven Hills and Backpocket both are okay, but the nice thing is all three are within walking distance. Nothing must see, but if you have an empty night, it's not too bad.

The best beer bar is Lot One. As it gets later in the night, it turns into more of a college bar, but the draft list is usually pretty good. Lots of Toppling Goliath and other Iowa stuff.

If you want more info, let me know.
