Good morning BA, have a great holiday. A nice break in a super busy work week for me. My mom is planning to come on up this weekend to visit, since I'll be 31 on Monday.

Amazing English barleywine. Aromas and flavors of big raisin, plum, cherry, fig, date, apricot, red apple, caramel, vanilla, toffee, brown sugar, brown bread, bourbon, and toasted oak; with light coconut, leather, herbal/peppery hops, and yeast earthiness. Light-moderate herbal hop and bourbon/oak spiciness on the finish. Light-medium carbonation and fairly full body; very creamy, silky, bready malt mouthfeel; lightly slick, syrupy, sticky, and tannic. Lightly increasing bitter/tannin dryness; no cloying or astringency. Very smooth sipper, mildly warming 12.5%. English Barelywines are my favorite style, and this nails it. Perfect balance of fruity yeast and dark/bready malts; with amazing barrel integration and balancing earthy hops. Glad these are in cans now.

This is tasting amazing. Flavors of huge milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, caramel, vanilla, cream, toffee, molasses, bourbon, coconut, toasted oak, and dark/brown bread; with lighter notes of coffee, licorice, raisin, plum, fig, and dates. Very mild roast/char bitterness and bourbon/oak tannin spiciness on the finish. Light-medium carbonation and very full body; with a very creamy, silky, velvety, and rich mouthfeel that is amazing. Slight chalky roast, oak tannins, and dryness. No acrid/astringent roast flavors. Insanely smooth, minimal warming 11.2%, zero barrel booze. Bell's has the BBA game on point as usual. While I still prefer well aged Expedition and the BBA version more, this is still definitely better than I remember when I reviewed it initially. Richer and silkier mouthfeel. Perfect barrel integration and complexity. Still have plenty left, was so easy to find last year.

Happy 4th of July, virtual bar folk. Having something special for both the 4th and to celebrate being named employee of the month for June.

Delicious IPA as always. Flavors of big grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, apricot, lemon zest, orange peel, citrus rind, pepper, and pine hops; with some honey, toasted bread, light caramel malt balance; and herbal, floral, grassy hop earthiness. Moderate pine, citrus rind, herbal, grassy, spicy bitterness. Medium body/carbonation, and moderately crisp finishing. Balanced bready/grainy malt creaminess and sticky/resinous hops in the mouthfeel. Light-moderate increasing resin dryness, no hop astringency. Balanced juicy/dank hop complexity; nice bready malt backbone, with minimal residual sweetness. They changed the hops from Chinook/Centennial/Amarillo to Chinook/Centennial/Citra/Crystal late last year. Not seeing much of a difference, which is nice. Glad to see they tried to keep it consistent on taste. I love the entire series of the Hero IPAs. Got the newest 12 pack last weekend.

Fantastic! Aromas and flavors of huge nutty medium roast coffee, milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, caramel, brown sugar, vanilla, toffee, coconut, cream, frosting, almonds, cake batter, and toasted dark/brown bread; with light notes of smoke, char, dark fruit, and herbal hops. Light herbal/spicy hop and roast/char bitterness on the finish. Light-medium carbonation and fairly full body; very creamy, silky, bready malt mouthfeel; light slickness, sticky hops, and chalky roast. Lightly increasing lingering hop/char dryness. Never acrid/astringent. Mildly increasing warmth of 12.5%. Dangerously smooth. Super rich malt complexity with great fruity/nutty coffee presence, and some lactose/spices. This tastes exactly like Tiramisu stout but richer, so probably the imperial version. I keep grabbing more every time I see it.

Good morning BA and Happy Fourth of July!

BBQ and beer on the docket for today. Nothing crazy. Just a couple friends and their kids coming over later today, so it will be pretty low key. Some filets, corn, and zucchini, while my wife whips up some potatoes au gratin.

This has been in my fridge for a while waiting for the right morning to be opened. Today is the day and it’s perfectly hitting the spot.

Can you see the density and darkness of the head from the initial pour?

Gonna be a hot, sultry day and usually I'm thinking something light and bright, but not today . . .

Attractive red gold color with off white cap and lacing.

Scent of rich malt that comes across as more caramel than toffee but without sweetness. There's a wafting scent of spicy, floral hops of the Noble variety which would be true to the roots of the German trained brewer.

Taste is rich, round and quite malt forward with the depth of roasted malt but without any roasty bitterness. Though rich it comes across as rather dry with enough dimension to be interesting.

This is a moreso beer of the amber sort with more reach and complexity than one gets with, say, the better grade of the Mexican school. Food and company friendly with substance and without pretension.

I am having the Stickee Monkee a Quadrupel (Belgian Ale) from Firestone Walker, ABV 11.40%. The flavor is dark raisin bread, dark fruit, figs, caramel, molasses, fairly sweet but very drinkable. It is delicious.

After 3 days of lying around house in the same underwear, figured I’d break out of my funk and open a beer.

Made sure to pour the beer cold so there’d be blurring condensation on the glass. Luckily the heat of the day will warm this up quickly enough.

    Happy Independence Day
