Bud Light Lime is better than a lot of craft adjunct beers in spite of many (usually new) craft drinkers pretending otherwise.

Cantankery is at its highest when dogs and children are targets. A beer "veteran" losing his shit and spewing vulgarities to ward off children so that he can better understand his beer is precisely what is wrong with beer in America. Is precisely why pub culture in America is fucking shit. Is precisely why so called craft beer bars are are the last place on Earth where smiles and laughs can be found.

So yeah, I'm happy to be odds with anyone that embodies and propagates beer as serious business.

Thank you for being the only one here sound of mind to recognize that such behavior is childish, thus ironic and whatever else further analysis might yield about this behavior

I’m a sports fan and it’d be hilarious if on BaseballAdvocate there were people who hated children at games because it interfered their appreciation of the sport.

Kids ruin baseball...have you ever had to sit through a little league game? A travesty to the sport.

The last time I was having a drink at a bar, there were little kids hanging out, eating pretzels, and playing foosball... and a guy next to me was voluntarily telling me everything he knew about beer as he stared into his raised glass of Alchemist suds. All of us appeared happy to be there. For what it's worth, the spectacle of each was kinda fun in their own way, but I was enjoying the presence of the kids way more than the presence of the insufferable adult.

Yeah, because taking a child to a ball game so they might get interested in playing ball and learn to enjoy the sport is the same things as dragging them to a taproom.

Hyperbole: A literary device to express an exaggeration for the sake of emphasis, humor, or effect.

I'm finished with this kids in taprooms debate and I'm annoyed with myself for even jumping in. Report back to me, though, about how it goes when you ramp up the swearing next time you encounter a child somewhere you don't think they should be.

This kids-in-drinking-establishment stuff is so fucking painful (and I know if I don’t like it I don’t need to open the thread, but when we’re not [back yet again] on the topic, this thread is pretty good)

If you let your kid run around in a dive bar at 2am in the morning then you are a dickhead

If you go out of your way to curse and swear in front of kids who are behaving themselves just fine, at a family-friendly brewery that advertises itself as such, you are a dickhead

In the middle there are many shades of gray that are largely situational - nobody is going to see eye to eye discussing them on the internet.

I will say though, that a lot of the sentiments expressed, clearly show why america has a weird relationship with alcohol

I always like to ask stray children, "Where are your parents, you little ****?"

I'm against taking kids to a taproom or any fancy restaurant. It's just inconsiderate. Other people probably paid babysitters so they could enjoy an evening out without kids. I personally just want to enjoy my adult drinks in an adult setting, not a daycare.
I also appreciate not being dragged to every bar in the county by my parents when I was a kid. Crazy how kids like kid friendly places.

Perhaps some good may come from taking children to laid-back brewery taprooms, especially if they are older than toddler age. It could help instill in the upcoming generation a healthy attitude and culture around drinking. Maybe then us Americans can finally move on from the polar contradictions of zealous Puritanism against alcohol anywhere and the rowdy, violent American college bar.
