I really do need to get back to Bamberg again, and just wander around. The town of Passau, at the confluence of The Danube, Inn, and Ilz rivers is very cool, offers many fine beers, and is truly beautiful. It's a very memorable spot in world history.

@lordofthewiens I can only say you have my sympathies. Moved to Arkansas from Oklahoma about 13 months ago & there are still boxes to unpack... Not really phased by that too much. But as a survivor of over 14 Military Moves ( 7 as a brat ), I am in the leave it to the professionals camp. Having said that the last 2 were do it yourself ( I was bit player in the last on Mrs. Powell did all planning & then threw cash at a bunch of teenagers that were school chums of son#1 ). We purged a ton of stuff & there is still way too much

On to the beer, Lost Forty Wild Barrel Series #6, an Oak Aged Saison using various local ( Little Rock ) yeast strains. 3.72 overall

Pours an effervescent gold/honey with a thumb of eggshell colored head. Very good lacing & good head retention

S: Pears, wet hay, both fade after a while

T: Follows the nose, a little pineapple as well, a little dryness from the oak & some white grape up front. White grape, pineapple, & oaky dryness dominate as this warms, a little pear as well, a touch of acidity as well. Finishes dry with a bit of grapefruit, pineapple & white grape

    MF: Medium body, firm carbonation

Drinkable enough, interesting, solid, but not a stellar example of the style by any means

Grand Teton Devil's Tower Lager, 5.1% ABV. Pours golden, with a 1+ finger white head. Nose is malty, taste follows, slightly sweet, slightly bitter. Decent mouthfeel, overall good.

We just got back from a 3 day trip to the Black Hills of South Dakota. We got up Friday and on a whim decided to go to Devil's Tower in Wyoming as we'd never been there. It took about 90 minutes to get there. It was pretty cool, though it is just a rock. We saw several folks climbing it, and got some cool shots - you can see the climbers if you zoom the picture. Half expected the gift shops to have jello or mashed potato molds of Devil's Tower but they didn't, so I picked up this contract-brewed AAL. They did sell alien related shirts and stuff, and copies of Close Encounters.

    Kane Sneak Box Pale Ale

An all Citra Hopped American Pale. This one I had eailer, before the overhead but I just wanted to share it with all you guys. It was an outstanding Pale Ale with notes of dank lemongrass, earth and tropical fruits.

New beer #4. After thoroughly enjoying Sixpoint’s Citrus Jammer, I picked up a single of this to compare.

    Limey Gose - Victory
    Sour Ale - 4.7% abv
    Score: 3.9 (-1% rDev)

L - 1-finger bright white head atop an almost-transparent yellow body.

S - lime, salt, something sweet, some spice.

T - spicy, salted lime. I’m not sure of the exact spice used here but it’s quite prominent. Not really getting “key lime” though. No bitterness. Low sweetness. No booziness.

F - light bodied with high carb.

O - I am quite thankful this didn’t turn into a sugary beer, but it’s a rather pedestrian gose compared to others in this area.

Good evening NBS, hope everyone is enjoying the end of the weekend once again. Thanks to @lordofthewiens for getting us started off this morning. Another normal weekend as usual. Made a mini beer haul yesterday, was hoping to find more stuff. Review 7000 was on Friday. Will be getting more difficult to keep climbing, but I will do what I can. Already did all the Macro big hitters. Another busy work week as everyone will be back from vacation last week. I'll be 31 tomorrow, nothing special planned.

    New Beer:

Delicious kolsch. Awesome head retention and thick lacing on the glass. Flavors of big lemongrass, pear, red apple, chamomile, coriander, tea, and light clove/peppercorn; with moderate cracker, white bread dough, lightly toasted biscuit malts; herbal, floral, grassy, and yeast earthiness. Similar/muted aromas. Light herbal, grassy, peppery bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation/body, and fairly crisp/clean finishing. Bready/grainy malt and some sticky hop/spice in the mouthfeel. Light-moderate increasing bitter/spicy dryness. Very flavorful/refreshing, 5.1%. Very clean flavors, and not overly yeasty. Big fan. Great balance of pale malt and lemongrass/chamomile spice; with restrained yeast and mild earthy hop balance. This is spot on style stuff. Not overwhelming on any aspect. 3.91
    [IMG]

Delicious APA. Awesome head retention and thick soapy lacing on the glass. Flavors of big tangerine, lemon, grapefruit, peach, pineapple, apricot, mango, melon, citrus peel/zest, and light pepper/pine hops; with moderate honey, bread dough, toasted biscuit, light caramel/nutty malts; and herbal, floral, grassy hop earthiness. Similar/muted aromas. Light pine, zesty, herbal, grassy, spicy bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation, medium plus body; very creamy/bready malts and light sticky hops in the mouthfeel. Lightly increasing lingering bitter dryness. Refreshingly drinkable, soft feeling, 6%. Really big fan. Definitely a lot of Cascade/Amarillo in there. Awesome balance of juicy hops and bready English malts. Would buy more next time. Spot on style example. 3.91

    Cheers, be back later NBS.

Loving my first fruit sour from Side Project thanks to @bstyle. I have loved the few saisons that I’ve tried from Side Project, but this is on another level!

    Hello New Beer Sunday!!!

I got done with work earlier than usual today, so off to NBS earlier. I might go out somewhere after lunch/dinner, but first off, a new beer.

    Stagecoach Smoked Porter

I am a fan of smoked beers, and this beer is no exception. Nice smoke favor that really hits on the backside. Quite tasty.

    3.98/5 rDev +2.3%
    look: 4 | smell: 4 | taste: 4 | feel: 3.75 | overall: 4

Pours a nice black color with a 2 finger dark brown head. The head retention is not the best, but not too bad either.
The nose has a nice smoke aroma. It also has hints of chocolate and vanilla.
Taste - Is a bit sweet up front, but on the backside is where the action is. I get the vanilla and chocolate notes mixed in with the smoke, which produces a great flavor.
The body is slightly watery, but only slightly. The smoke does linger in my throat, and on my palate.
Very good smoked porter, and a pleasure to drink.

As I said before, I might go out, and see if a miracle happens, and there's single women out there. I doubt it, but there's at least one more new beer in me today.

You just hit my two favorites from my visit to Kane last year. I brought 4 packs of both home with me. Both are fantastic beers I'd enjoy regularly if I lived closer.

    1) Your beer sounds mighty tasty. I’m right there with you in the smoke beer appreciation club.

    2) I don’t think single gals go out anymore. They just swipe on Bumble/Tinder until someone they like asks them out. That’s my experience at least :expressionless:

[IMG] Poured into a 13oz Teku glass canned recently. Pours a slightly hazy dark orange with a quarter inch white head that leaves some thin traces of lace behind. 4

Smell is apricot, mandarin orange, Mellon, pineapple, and grapefruit rind. 4

Taste follows apricot, mandarin oranges, honey dew, pineapple, and grapefruit. 4

Mouthfeel here is the weakness and all started with that lack luster head. Under carbonated, overly thin for 9.6%, but it does drink easy enough. 3.25

Overall I wish this had more carbonation, I mean it would have changed so much if it wasn’t so flat unfortunately. 3.5

Southern Tier Bourbon Barrel aged Oat, tasty, not great, but I would buy it again. 3.84 Overall

Pours an effervescent ebony with a thumb+ of rocky tan head. Above average head retention & lacing

S: A little roastyness, faint Bourbon, really the only short-coming in this beer

T: Dark fruit, roastyness,& a some Bourbon Barrel rawness up front, dryness too, a little vanilla & caramel sneaks in as well. Faint raisin notes mix with chocolate, vanilla, a little leafy hop & dryness as this warms. Finishes a little dry with some Bourbon notes, some raisin & dark cherry, chocolate & caramel

MF: Fairly chewy, fairly firm carbonation, smooths out as this warms, warming

A nice take on the style in a very crowded & talented field. Worthy of purchase again, nice price point as I recall

Nice to see the brewhouse getting running. Once you’re fully operational we may have to crash your place again. :grimacing:

I am pretty sure I also got this beer in my last haul, might have to crack it after dinner tonight and compare notes.

Good evening and the best of luck to @lordofthewiens on your move. Hope youre moving to another place for great beer because Maine is sure knocking it out of the park. Speaking of moving I will be moving back to an earlier phase of my life as I go back in the kitchen as a Chef again starting tomorrow. Love the creative aspects but this will be a challenge. Todays beer is from a generous and thoughtful box provided by @The-Adjunct-Hippie. I received beers, guitar strings, picks and some of his music- just awesome. Thanks again Jared.
    Southern Prohibition Brewing
    Crowd Control Imperial IPA
Pours a golden hazy orange color with a nice head for an Imperial and some spotty lacing. Head settles after a few.
Aroma is of tropical fruit- alot of mango, some peach, pith, orange juice and pine resin.
Taste follows with mango, grapefruit pith, pine resin, orange and a light caramel malt base. A pleasant easy drinking Imperial for sure.
Feel is medium bodied for a high ABV brew. Carb is small bubble snappy. Finish is more crisp than you would expect and ther is a pleasant bitterness. Hop oils touch the tongue but are washed away by the bubbles.
A really great drinking Imperial IPA that I dare say was concocted with Treehouse characteristics in mind. It may just fit that controversial new NEIPA category to a T. Thank you again Jared. Have a great week all. Ill be offline concentrating on a new menu for much of the week. Peace![IMG]

So far the beer highlight of this trip was definitely getting to go Cantillon. This was my one designated brewery trip while we are here. I had yet to experience having any of their beers and had hoped that I wasn't putting too much hype on what to expect. Holy hell! It was amazing! The only downside was not having an extra suitcase to pack and bring home.

This one poured a bright red with a slight pink head that didn't last long.
The first smell was like sticking my face into a jar of fresh raspberry jam, deeper in the slight funk and oak began coming through. A bit of acidity is there too.
Taste follows, tart raspberry, a nice touch of funk and oak.
Light to medium body, dry finish.
    Overall an amazing beer!
I had a few others while there too but the wifi here is horribly slow when uploading.
The Magic Lambic was amazing too, very similar to the one above but with a bit of vanilla to balance the tart.
The Lambic Haute Densité was great and 9% to boot.
Kriek and Rosé Gambrinus were amazing as well.
