Possible bad trader?: (resolved) @TheIPAHunter

While I do agree with the above....if he has not fixed the situation by now....he never will. He obviuosly does not care, nor has any incentive for the last 7 weeks.

 

Not to be rude, but isn't the last page of discussion the basic question of "can he respond?" I thought we were now discussing that he might be incapacitated, and as such has not been around, rather than circling back to the first round of posts, which was "it's been far too long, and he got defensive. He won't be coming back."

Also, I am confused. Todd's first message said that he had not logged in "in over 3 weeks." Is it actually 7 weeks? Makes a pretty big difference here in terms of the degree of leniency to give. My understanding was that it was 3 not 7 from the WBAYDN post.

 

Or Option "C" - he's truly sick, lashed out in frustration at the OP due to his ongoing serious health issues, and is now either back in the hospital or laying low in recovery.

I think the "Bad Trader" tag is sufficient here, and leaving this thread open for a bit in the hopes that the BT recovers and is able to come back and make things right. Deleting his account I'm sure would alienate him and closes the door on that option.

I'm happy to hear you've done so many trades. I understand what it's like to have family members that are ill. That said, have you ever been sick? Like really sick? I hope someone will exercise a certain degree of patience with you should that ever interrupt your daily actions. I'm going to be honest man, you are coming off like a pompous individual. I believe you're better than that. Why don't you just shit on my reputation and get it over with? Cheers. As far as communication goes, it's kinda hard when you're hooked up to tubes. FYI, I haven't touched your beers or any beers for that matter. I can't.

Hello, everyone. While I haven't taken the time to read all these posts, thanks to a concerned BA, I understand the basic premise. I think everyone is allowed to have an opinion on the matter, good or bad. Anyone who's active on this site knows that I've made an appearance almost daily for a good amount of years. Yes, it would take something serious to keep me away. While I do think there's a point that real life medical issues trump beer trading, I understand that rules are rules. I have reached out to @JayORear directly concerning this matter, which I hope to resolve next week. He is welcome to share with everyone what I told him. I do not wish to be banned from a site I've supported faithfully for many years, but that decision is out of my hands. I wish everyone the best of health, and I hope that I'm able to get LARRRGE on here in the near future. Cheers.

I don't believe so...the long thread about him was purged, and the event/s were over six years ago.

Long story short, from memory: mikesgroove was one of those guys doing multiple trades a week, for years. He was highly respected as a porch bomber, & very active on the site.

What happened is he decided to turn full thief. Despite a long & decorated history, & all at once, he started stiffing people on trades. Because he was MIKESGROOVE, for all that's holy, those he screwed were more than patient, & the scam didn't come to light for quite some time. The culmination was that he started soliciting beer for another BA who was in the hospital, in order to sell to "cover his expenses" or "celebrate when he was out", I can't recall which. This came as a complete surprise to the patient when he found out.

Then followed the slow-motion car wreck of accusations, first a trickle, then a flood. Mikesgroove started out defending himself, then stopped responding, & was either banned or never returned. But it turned out that his stellar rep protected him from several people who he hadn't shipped promised beer to, & a number of traders got the shaft.

So when us old-timers snort derisively when someone says "I've been around" or "I contribute a lot" or pretty much just what IPAHunter said above, it's because there's been precedent set. Doesn't matter how fine a contributor you are - we've seen the best go very, very bad.

 

Guarded optimism, but it looks like things will turn out positively. Very glad that we kept this going, and that @TheIPAHunter is coming in, hat in hand, and looking to make good.

Always refreshing to see such a change of pace from some of the bad traders of the past.

Honestly all I ever want to see in these cases.

I would argue this decision is in your hands and it seems you are willing to fulfill duties that will keep you an active contributor to this site again when your time/health allows.

nice to see @TheIPAHunter is alright and while health and life always trump beer the premise of beer trading is built on mutual respect and open communication hopefully all ends well and @JayORear gets what he deserves
