My only gripe is the variants being sold out during "normal" work hours so I don't get a chance at those. Maybe I'll take off this year lol.

Cities!?! All of Michigan didn't get a variant last year! (Not counting BW)

I agree that the BCBS cult hype is waning, just as it is for KBS. The beer is as good as it ever was, just that overproduction made folks realize that the cult hype was driving ratings and demand as much as quality. I would disagree though regarding variants, they may prove to be the saving grace for BCBS if they can ramp them up and ramp down regular BCBS - perhaps even to the point that they are all produced in equal quantity. Is part of the issue for you that GI isn't independent?

They could have sold all those sitting on the shelves now if they had just brought them to MI.
Is it because we hate FIB's?

I hope you're right. I would love to have equal opportunity and if super lucky, equal price, to get all different types of bariants. Last year (2017) was the first year for me even seeing a variant. So I definitely would love to see and taste all of these

Breweries seem to have this problem of proper allocation

Firestone walker sells their vintage bottles for an absurd amount. This was pre-partial buyout too.

I recall hearing that one store got those due to a mistake. I'm assuming you're indicating that multiple stores in the area got all those?

Yes, multiple stores received some. Not much, maybe a case or two of each. Wasn’t all store either, just the “better” ones.

We never get the variants in Casper. I will survive.

After finishing Josh Noel’s excellent book today, I’ve gotta admit I’m a bit conflicted about all things Goose and AB/InBev. And I am the king of “drink and let drink,” but that book gave me pause.

I’m conflicted. That doesn’t happen often.

I was conflicted for awhile. But I came to terms with it by thinking about personal market share - that is, big beer (AB, Constellation, whatever) gets 10% of what I spend on beer in a year at most, and that’s being generous. I’m ok with that ratio, and don’t feel that small amount is going to break independent craft (or even enable big beer to do it).

I'm probably alone on this, but the Neapolitan Stout sounds horrible. I had the Northwoods last year and it was worse than the original Bourbon County. I'm not a fan of fruit in beers though.

I wouldn't mind trying proprietors, or coffee bourbon county.

How about they focus on making great beer again, haven't made a great beer since 2012 imo. Last year's batch was very mediocre. 2012 Coffee, Cherry Rye, regular still my all time top 3.

For each new variant added to the list, an additional one thousand people decide to go to Chicago for Black Friday this year.
