    It has been a while since I opened a thread with FBS in a coffee mug in front of the Keurig. But since it is my only day off in an 11 day span, might as well. The mug is in honor of taking the family to see Incredibles 2 in a couple hours. Happy Friday, Ad-vo-cats.

    I discovered I have a couple more Enjoy By 07.04.18 IPA. It's past the due date by a few days but it is still fine. Enjoy By 07.04.18 is an unfiltered DIPA from Stone Brewery, ABV 9.40%, and around IBU 90. The flavor is mango, grapefruit, and significant pine resin, and still quite good.

    Back to basics . . .

    Clear golden color with thick white cap and good lacing.

    Aroma of clean, spicy, floral hops with an emphasis on the floral.

    Flavor is a good balance of malt (I'm guessing Pilsner) and spicy, floral Noble hops that strike an even middle ground between malt and hops. Not terribly complex but does come across as sophisticated.

    Medium texture with balancing.

    Seems to me this Aldi's Heineken beater in what is clearly a similar style offered at a lower price. If we had a local Aldi this would be on the shopping list, at least occasionally.

    We spent our last day in Israel visiting more archaeological sites and historic churches. I'm tired of walking around in the heat and this Roggenbier from Herzl Brewing is really hitting the spot. Cheers!

    Moving on to my favorite style - barley wine. First time with this - Ale of Hardy from Du Monde in Canada. The glassware matches, but different brewery. This is a lovely beer - very comparable to a Thomas Hardy's Ale. Cheers!

    This is a really good beer. Now that Cigar City Brewing is in Wisconsin, I will probably buy a lot more of this than Jai Alai.
