Hello all. I just went into my beer stash in my cellar to pick out something special to put in the fridge. I noticed that I am missing 3 bottles of Hill Farmstead farmhouse ales that I put there last week, a bottle of 2016 Wootstout and a 4 pack of 2015 KBS. My kids in their early 20's have friends over regularly, they all drink and no one knows a thing. I am trying not to burst into flames. Has anyone else shared similar experiences?

My kids are too young but I know when I was that age I took my Dad's beer all the time lol. On the good side your starting them off correctly and training their tastes to enjoy craft beer, so that is a plus :stuck_out_tongue:

And Why do they always go after the good stuff?

Dude, I feel your pain. This has happened to me also.

Honestly ive lost control and have no intention of drinking everything in my cellar... I haven't bought a barrel aged anything this year that I haven't drank instantly

I recently acquired a second mini fridge (both free). I rearranged everything. The first (a wine fridge) holds my special bottles and the bottles I legit want to cellar. The second holds white wine for my wife, beer she enjoys, and anything I want to try to "drink now." One reason I did this is so that when I am gone on work trips, she does not venture into the wrong fridge and open a bottle that, well, is irreplaceable. It's unlikely to happen, as there are few stouts she enjoys, but you never know. Makes life easy!

The same happened to me in the past. I put a lock on the beer fridge. Damn did that piss everyone off.

Man, that sucks. I'd lock up the good stuff if possible and leave busch lite out for those turds (their friends, not your kids. Your kids know better, it's most likely a shitty friend.) until someone fesses up.

I have noticed bottles that have mysteriously been rearranged in my absence but no nothing has come up missing. Maybe a can of Miller Lite here and there but that's harder to track.

Every time I give my kids a try of my beer they make a 'face'. I'm just wondering if they're smart enough to play the long con like that, and lull me into a false sense of security.

You just have to hope your kids friends are not doing recon for their Dad who loves craft beer. Keep your eyes open here to see if your beers pop up on posts:thinking_face:

    LOL

Separate fridge for the private stash works for me.

Simple, you tell your sons you have everything inventoried, if one beer is missing his friends are all banned. Your house your rules. Just be upfront about the missing beer.

Get them all together, then bring in de Niro for the lie detector test! They'll fess up quickly.

Are they drinking whatever they find or picking out the ‘good’ stuff. Cool to see young drinkers like the good stuff. But I suspect they may Be drunkenly drinking whatever they find. Leave out some cheaper options in front of your good stuff. At that point you’ll know if they are actually searching and seeking out your goods, which is totally unacceptable

You nailed it. They aren't smart enough to be picking through it. It takes too much time and research. I shouldn't have to leave out "cheaper finds" but that is a great suggestion. I am just going to start charging "room and board". I don't get mad, I get even.:sunglasses: This is going to really sound "out there" but I can't wait to visit them in their first house and walk through without taking my shoes off.:stuck_out_tongue:

I am looking now. The first thing I will do is add a pad lock.
