I'm pretty sure the Zum Scheneider version is brewed for them only. Or could be the same beer just a different name?!

Interesting- I wonder just how different that one is from their normal O'fest then..

Being em on. I love the style regardless of season. I drank my weight in copper legend and ayinger last year, and I have 5 gallons of ayinger inspired homebrew conditioning now

Well, according to the information on BA one difference is the ABV value: 6.3% vs. 5.7%. I would suspect there may be a difference in the grain bill but I do not have details here.

    Cheers!

Thanks, but I kinda wish I didn't click on the link. Their Helles with a 3.59?!! Oy...

Jack, if you could please message me when you see this on tap, I would love to arrange a meet up of a few SEPA BAs (and maybe even one from Jersey). A few of these young bloods don't seem to appreciate the German styles, but I reckon a few liters might enlighten them. The first round at least would be on me.

Really 'nothing to see here', right? Lagers are not the preferred sort of beers for the BA crowd and I suspect that a Helles is even 'lower' in BA standing since a Helles is a 'boring' beer.

    Cheers!

The Sixpoint Alpenflo seemed quite popular. Hopefully the lager trend continues.

    I hope so too.

If I had a dollar for every time I overheard somebody mention the words "boring" and "Golden Helles" in the same sentence at the Sly Fox brewpub....

    Cheers to quality lagers!!!!

I have seen Oktoberfests in the first 2 weeks of July for at least 2 years. I know one of the SN ones was at least bottled the first week of July. First one I have come across this year (last week) is the Goose Island version. 2 hours ago Market Garden Brewery in Cleveland posted theirs fresh off the bottling line, and I swear that one of the Ohio breweries posted about another in June, but haven’t seen any yet.

I may or may not have had a Marzen/Oktoberfest yet, not sure, but I am looking forward to adding one or two to my tried styles collection.... maybe this fall.

Well, I wasn't expecting 4.59, but that was still surprisingly low considering just how great that beer is.

For me, Fall beers appearing on the shelves is a welcome surprise. Not only are Fall beers my favorite seasonals, but it also signifies that summer is half way over, and the end to this inferno is in sight. I'll turn the thermostat down to 65, fill a mass with Oktoberfest, and pretend its fall!

Love Marzens, but I can’t indulge until 1st week of football.

Local Mectoberfest from OMB will be released in all of its fresh and magnificent glory on Aug 28 which is perfect for me. There for the beginning of football, end of summer and who knows, maybe one cooler night in there.

And it hangs with the big boys--there is not a German Marzen style that I prefer over it (and I will get one of about all of them anyway).

    Were they refrigerated?

Sounds like they're just sending it all around the country and TELLING you all it was brewed specifically for those bars.... We also get a Traunstein Oktoberfest here (6.3% ABV I believe), but I think it's the regular Oktoberfest.

And dammit @steveh, you couldn't have waited until August 1st?

Kidding, I love Oktoberfests. Most don't start showing up here until August, and that's when I start digging in. Usually finish up around late September. MAYBE early October...just like that small festival they hold in Munich every fall...

Love Fest beers, but I tend to like the pale versions over the amber brews. Ayinger is usually the first to show, it's a good beer but for me the malt kinda drags it down a bit.

Yep. I wouldn't have touched them this spring if they weren't.
