Will do. I should note that I actually have no proof that it's actually ACE or that it's never been opened. It's OH branded and has a ticket around the neck that says ACE, but really anything could be inside.

Old ACE is just an American barleywine.

Where can I send a resume? At most places I’ve worked alcohol at work is frowned upon. So weird.

What industry do you work in? I’ve always worked in some part or other of finance. Had a mixed bag. Current employer totally fine with it which is cool

In advertising/marketing they basically encourage us to drink

My agency is pretty small so they gave people money to make cocktails for the whole office on Fridays. I've brought in homebrew before to do a tasting as well. Also as a birthday present, they gave me a gift card to Other Half lol.

I learned this from watching Mad Men.

    Happy birthday to me.

Yeah, I work for a marketing agency. As others have said it's pretty much a free-for-all in terms of alcohol. You can almost always find beer in the fridges for taking. Gotta keep that Mad Men spirit alive some how I suppose.

My last agency had a Guinness tap in one of the kitchens. That was pretty cool.

damn my agency is also moving offices - but they clean the fridges out weekly so no chance of an OH growler.

but yeah, like others have said media/marketing agencies are pretty much a free-for-all with booze, our team had our own mini-fridge that used to be heavily stocked with beer, now it's mostly liquor that no one drinks.

yeah but that's extracurricular activity... there's pretty much no drinking in the office on wall street unless its a special event / holiday / party or client type thing... even having a drink at lunch isn't really done these days...

I would be substantially more productive at coping with my coworkers inability to not piss me off if I could have a few during lunch..

i'm only going off of second/third hand knowledge - but for the most part, wall street offices are basically ghost towns at 5:05pm right?

I know at my agency and media/advertising agencies as a whole, it's not uncommon to put 10+ hours a day in and weekends as needed. so the thought process is sometimes "here's some beer to help you not mind having to stay until 9pm tonight to finish a powerpoint"

Depends what you do. Some sales/trading people will be done by then. But then they will probably start at 6-7am. Maybe earlier.

Investment banking people, especially the younger ones, will regularly be pulling horrendous hours. Like 14 on a good day.

Hedge funds / PE generally long hours

Maybe certain companies (thinking like a stodgy rMBS REIT or something) or certain roles have cushy hours. Generally not though in my experience

Edit - this is New York. I think the default assumption is in any industry you’re getting the shaft hours-wise

One of my trade partners works IT for a media agency, and they keep a beer fridge in their office He's invited me up for drinks in the past. This is one of those deals though where you get greeted by a doorman, take the elevator up to this big lobby, walk past all the sexy conference rooms and offices, take another elevator up, and walk down some random hallway to a dungeon full of dead computers. I'm guessing they get some leeway since they're not exactly the most forward facing part of the company.

Damn my company has to get with the times! This is 2018 after all, we should all be entitled to a beer fridge at work.

There are two types of people in this world, ones who will tell you the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor and ones who have seen the film Animal House.
