Hello all Was just curious if anyone has traded a whale to fill their cellar? I saw a trade post a day or two ago, they where going 12 to 1(I think) ISO a whale and I thought about it as a good way to restock. Has anyone done that? Any regrets? What was the deal? Thanks for the info Cheers
I "trade down" regularly. Recently traded 1 bottle for 6x bruery big beers to "restock". In the past I've also done -1 bottle for 7x Bo and luke/variants. -1 bottle for 5 Fremont BA beers.
I'm definitely open to doing these type of trades when I have an expensive beer, and I can do a $4$ trade. I have had very few whales, and I have never traded a whale away for quantity, but if I was going to, I'd be open to doing it for something like some BC vintage. I was actually recently thinking about the fact that I wish I had a bottle around that I thought I could get a nice 13/14 4-pack for.
Restock? Jesus i must live in opposite world, ive been trying to drink it down the past 5 years, in no way would i ever consider trading for quantity. i have sent a 6er for 1 bottle before (to have that trader end up sending me 6 back! )
To me the question is less about "restocking the cellar with more beer" and more about "restocking the cellar with a specific beer". Course, as my post above indicates, I'm biased in thinking this way
I've come to believe that some of the beers in my cellar are forming relationships and propagating bottles. It doesn't matter what I do, the numbers always go up...
i used to think that way but ive learned i love trying new beers to much. theres too much good beer to try. also nothing is worse thank cracking an old favorite to find its now over the hill
I'm a huge fan of trying new beers, but I admit that my personality is such that I have favorites, and I love always having one in reserve. I'll definitely eat at a new restaurant, but nothing better than knowing that it's still open any night of the week you get a hankering for it!
There's usually one fundamental issue i have with trading down. It's that the beer i have is going to be a lot more difficult to replace than what i am receiving. Those restock beers are generally cheap to buy on secondary or easy to trade for with limited shelfies. Or i'll just go to the store and pick up some miller lite if i need something to drink at the moment but don't have anything "small enough" to open.
I do it from time to time. Traded a 16 maman for 6-7 bottles when I was new in the game and there were a ton of things I've never tried. I just traded a BAA 18 for rare 15, reserve, prop 17, and BA hena Swirl
Wow. Someone must have really wanted a BAA. That seems like overkill. Was that a trade on BA? Feels like a Facebook trade.
No it was here. He posted several offers and finally made the 4:1 offer since he had received no interest. He asked for a plus so I gave him a few options.
I did that with one of my bottles of Assisin for 5 or 6...a lot of bottles and breweries you hear about that you want to try and it’s a good way to get a bunch and I still have 1 bottle left from my allotment so I was happy with it.
