Toppling Goliath in Chicago (2018)

Awesome. My favorite ipa of theirs.

 

Had a can of King Sue last night and I was pretty disappointed. I remember the bombers I had were huge pineapple hop bombs, but my can was extremely muted with almost no aroma and no flavor other than a kind of chalky astringent oniony flavor.

 

A consistent issue I’ve found with all of the specialty beers TG has released lately. Overhopping that leaves a taxing astringency.

I always taste them very fresh, and they all seem to have a bold aroma, but most of them provide a hop burn that some people confused for dry finish. The more I drink them, the more it builds. I typically want a lager or classic pale ale afterwards

 

I picked up a twisted galaxy and loved it. Very fruity - it may be that the extra week or so from the Iowa Trail covered wagons dropped it off in IL in its sweet spot!

 

Never underestimate the refreshing feeling of surviving dysentery.

 

Twisted Galaxy is awesome. Peach, orange peel; mild dryness, but not bitter. Soft pillow-y mouthfeel.

Another great NE IPA from the company that doesn't make NE IPA's.

Yep! Hit this week.

 

Twisted Galaxy started off well for me aroma and flavor wise but on the finish it fell apart with a strong, astringent bitterness (tannins?). Likely a bad bottle but the finish was quite off putting for me.

 

Got mine at Beer Cellar on Wednesday just as a point of reference

 

not a fan of twisted galaxy. its not terrible by any means, but the carb seems off to me.

 

Is 6/7 Pseudo the freshest in the market still? If so, how is it drinking? My fridge is getting too DIPA heavy and a $7.99 4-pack might solve my problem. Thanks for any info

 

Yeah we might have bottle/batch/case variations here. It sounds like a lot of us are having some pretty different experiences that don’t just account for taste (I’m assuming we’re all seasoned vets with Galaxy hazy DIPA’s here)

 

Not sure about the 6/7 batch, but based on a post I saw I’d stay away from the 6/21 batch (see link below).

At Assassin Day this year they had Coffee Assassin and Cocounut Assassin on tap.

 

Just finished off two packs of 6/27. Had some floaters but tasted just fine.

 

Yeah my Twisted Galaxy had major floaters too. Anyways, had some 6/27 cans this evening and they were very good. Can’t comment on appearance as I went straight from the can (my recent habit for beers I’ve Had a bunch of times and am not evaluating anymore)
