I’ve always enjoyed that bottle opener in your pics. I feel like it has some weight to it. It reminds me of a bullet and casing.

Really enjoying this 6pk...Great Raft Reasonably Corrupt Black Lager.

 

I collect both the openers and the Snörkel glasses, and use them to the exclusion of other openers and glasses. The openers are quite hefty, part aluminum and part steel, and can easily open waxed bottles. They came in gold, blue, red, and natural metal, and they also made a long-handled version. I don't think they've been made for 35-40 years, and mostly sold or given away as advertising in Louisiana.

Pipeworks Pineapple Bling, a Belgian Golden style clocking in at 10.5%

 

More milkshake IPAs. This was excellent! Nice head retention/lacing on the glass. Aromas and flavors of big tangerine, orange juice, grapefruit, lemon, lime, peach, pear, pineapple, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, guava, gooseberry, strawberry, and light pepper/pine hops; with moderate vanilla, cream, wheat, white bread dough malt sweetness; and herbal, floral, grassy hop earthiness. Very mild pine/herbal/grassy bitterness and fruit tang/tartness on the finish. Medium carbonation and body; creamy/bready/grainy wheat/lactose; light sticky hops and fruit tang/acidity in the mouthfeel. Lightly increasing lingering bitter/tangy dryness. Super drinkable, minimal warming 7.8%, great soft feel for the style. Awesomely balanced juicy hops/fruit puree with a touch of dankness; perfect wheat/lactose/oat/malt backbone, with mild lingering sweetness. Probably Citra/Galaxy hops. They rarely miss on the fruit IPAs. 4


Awesome RIS! Nice head retention/lacing for the ABV. Aromas and flavors of big milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, fudge, vanilla, bourbon, toasted oak, and dark/brown bread; with lighter notes of coconut, marshmallow, molasses, licorice, raisin, cherry, smoke, char, leather, tobacco, and herbal/peppery hops. Light herbal/roast/char bitterness and bourbon/oak tannin spiciness on the finish. Light-medium carbonation and fairly full body; very creamy/silky/bready malt mouthfeel; light sticky hops, chalky char/roast, oak tannins, and increasing dryness. No acrid/astringency. Mildly increasing warmth of 9.5%, with no barrel booze after the finish. Did not blow me away as much as the other BA stouts earlier in the year, but this is spot on 100% RIS style. Rich dark/roast/black malt complexity, amazing barrel integration, and balancing earthy hops. Not overly bitter, charred, boozy, or drying. Would gladly get some more. 4.1
