Had to schedule a last minute trip to Corona from Monday - Friday. A quick search doesn't show much in the way of places to go. Any suggestions on breweries or bars/restaurants? I'll have a rental car and since i'll be there all week, i'd be open to a short-ish drive (45-60 minutes) one evening.
The Temecula breweries and Anaheim breweries are all ~30min drive depending on what time of day you’re going out. There’s also El Cerrito in corona super good Bottle shop
I used to live in Corona so I can help in this space. Bottle Shops: El Cerrito. Really all you need for bottle shops, they have a ridiculous amount of new beer and vintage beers. You need a solid 30 minutes and a coat (it's cold in the cooler) to browse through all of the beers they have available, legit some gems you won't find anywhere else. I was there 2 weeks ago and they had Westy 12, several Cantillon bottles, and anything you would wish to find in LA/OC. Don't judge it from the outside, great beer selection. Breweries: Honestly I'd jet down the 91 and hit up Bottle Logic, Bruery, Green Cheek, and Noble. Depending on the time you leave it's a 30 minute drive - aka not rush hour. In the Corona area you can hit up TAPS & Stone Church (directly in Corona), and several other small breweries in Riverside. None super memorable but not awful either. If you don't want to head to OC you should head south and hit up Electric for NE IPA (I haven't been but I've heard good things), Relentless, and multiple others within a stones throw of Temecula. Hope that helps, hit me up if you need additional details!
What Benneteox said! If you do go down to the OC, I’ll leave before 4:30 and I’ll wait until about 7ish to come back up. Traffic is horrible on the 91West in the evening. I’d check GPS to see the time.
Corona is kind of spread out so it does depend on where you're at, but the suggestions above are all great. For Temecula area, you can't go wrong with 8bit and electric for hazy styles, black market for variety, and relentless for a decent sour beer. If you're closer to the OC border, hop on the 71 and head to homage in pomona
Main Street Brewing in Corona is a hidden gem and probably lose to where you are staying. The beer is rock solid and the Bishop's Tipple Triple is one of the best Belgian Triples made on this side of the pond.
Monday > Friday evening doesn’t give you much options. If you had Sat/Sun in Corona you could hop on the MetroLink from Corona to Anaheim station. Uber to the Bruery, Bottle Logic, Green Cheek and if you must...Noble. Pick up some bottles at Mr K’s next to the Bruery. Have dinner at Karl Straus. Catch the last train back to Corona. Or you could just Uber from Corona to all the mentioned spots one week night. Could get a little pricey. But if you only have 1 night it may be worth it.
It really is amazing how fast Noble fell off...went from being a must stop in anaheim, to a all of the blah in about 1 year
I had a free evening tonight so i took everyone's suggestion. Went into Anaheim and visited Bottle Logic and The Bruery. Topped it off by going to the Angels game. I had a blast and it's only the first night! Thank you all for the suggestions, especially on the traffic timing. Now to explore the Corona locations the rest of the week.
There's another brewery in the city of Corona itself called Skyland. I've never been so cannot comment on the beers.
Great to hear! Another brewery that meets your drive criteria is Homage, should be about 30 min or less without traffic. Check out their IG and you'll find the tap list and bottle update. Most everything is pretty solid but their saisons and sours really shine.
If you want to stay local to Corona, Skyland is in Corona and has beers that are okay. There's also Route 30 in Riverside which has some beers that are also okay. I'd pass over Thompson Brewing, if you see that on your map. Wicks brewing may have decent things, but also has guest taps which are usually more interesting than the house beers. Stonechurch has been mentioned as well, it's okay. Main Street has really good pizza and wings and good beer. None of these are amazingly awesome, but if you want to hang out and have something to drink, they'll do.
Luckily, our group chose TAPS for dinner tonight. Enjoyed the Juicy Liu and Flex IPA. They were going down quick considering it was hot as balls in there.
Update: I've since been to Stone Church and Skyland. Of note, I tried my first brut IPA at Skyland. And finally, i went to El Cerrito. I wish i would have done it earlier in the week. Bought supplication and consecration from Russian River... Two beers i've had on my list for a while. Corona may not be an ideal place to visit on the surface, but you can make fun of it with little effort. Thanks for the help everyone.
