Notwithstanding the fact that InBev Anheuser-Busch has agreed to buy all of Grupo Modelo (brewer of Corona), I have never been able to understand what so many people see in this beer. My feeling is that it's just been a very successful marketing effort. I'd like to hear if any other Forum members are on the same page with me. Thanks.

Good on the golf course if from a can. The skunked clear bottle sucks.

It's a good beer when I don't feel like drinking.

Is pretty much like the same question why anybody would drink BMC... Except Corona is a lot more expensive at my local shop. I will say that I really don't mind a Negra on a hot summer day chilling in the pool. I really think most Mexican beer is garbage though

I'll drink it when it's offered. It's not a big deal.

People buy into perceived quality. People also believe than accessories with their beer improve it. Their are many beers, based on the actual product, that I do not understand what people see in it but I understand marketing, popularity and ease of consumption.

Successful branding of a poor American-style lager that sells for more than higher quality lagers.

I prefer a Modelo Especial on a hot day, but it's ok.

The beer by itself is terrible, possibly worse than BMC, its the lime that makes it taste better. Therefore I will never drink it.

Not the worst beer I've ever tasted, but definitely the most flavorless. I'd take it over Keystone or Miller, but with those options I'd rather just have an iced tea.

When the late great Michael Jackson was asked at a tasting what beer he found to be swill .
He clarified the question by saying hands down the most mass marketed swill is Corona !!!

If someone offers, I'll drink it no problem. I'd never buy it though since I can by a sixer of Deschutes for a couple quarters more.

IMO, this is the worst beer out there (granted, with some pretty effective marketing) -- well, except for Cristal from Cuba. Ironically, Corona is a huge seller in Germany, especially among the student population. Can't tell you how many times I found myself the lone person ordering a Schlenkerla Maerzen (for $2.50 per half liter) among a group ordering Corona (for $5.00 for 12 oz.). Matter of fact, my German wife still orders Corona when we're out at a bar. Baffling.

When I bought 6 Plinys at my local bottleshop this past week, the cashier put them in a Corona 6-pack holder. That's the only good thing I can say about Corona.
