For the first time in a loooong while, I’ve hit a really rare day of beer so far.

One of those days where you pick up/try out various new brews you haven’t had before, and they ALL hit it straight out of the park.

So far, I visited my ol’ lady at work and got a pint of Masthead Brewing Co. Tire Swing, a hopped up wheat ale, and it was SO on point. Drank like a creamy, but very dry and tropical NEIPA, a style which I typically don’t enjoy.

On my way home I swung by my LBS and picked up a bottle of Pretentious Barrel House’s Truculent w/ Cashmere sour IPA. This shit just simply blew my mind. I also got a 4pk of Omnipollo Nebuchadnezzar and was so pleasantly surprised at such a classic and solid flavor it had.

You guys have definitely had these days. What were the brews of the day that hit homer after homer with you?

For me it's usually the first one.

Your first beer is always one you haven’t had before?

I'm very open minded regarding beer.

I recall a day in Liverpool, beautiful weather, just wandering around, and having two great beers at The Globe, Doombar and Timothy Taylor Landlord, followed by a Mark's Mild and Titanic Plum Porter at The Dispensary. All great beers, one great day.

Is your LBS Mack's or Rozi's or a sleeper that you would reveal (asking for a friend?)

To me a perfect beer day would be simply, a perfect day living because beer is essential to happiness.

Yesterday I got a 16 oz pour of baxters delight (barleywine by bells) which had a nice smokey leathery fig flavor I enjoyed. It was supposed to be a 10 oz pour, I corrected the bartender when I got it. I went to another place and had a sweet potatoe souffle strong ale that was delish (tasted llike pumpkin pie) and later on had maduro by cigar city. A great day of non ipas (though I had a pale ale too)

I’m an eastsider haha. I frequent The Wine Spot mostly, as well as Warehouse Beverage. Red Wine & Brew way out in Chesterland has a pretty damn unique selection too.

That reminds me of a beautiful time of about two weeks years ago when I'd leave work late (11 pm or so) and stop in at a bar that was serving Old Foghorn - in Imperial pints! The bartender was oblivious. Each night I'd stop in and have one, just one, but that was all that was needed! And then one night, right in front of me, one of the servers caught on and corrected the bartender (that bitch!) and it was all over. I'd still go back on occasion but during that two weeks or so I was in there five nights a week. :grinning:

Any day at Rushing Duck. Seriously, that's how I feel every time I visit Rushing Duck.

OTOH I had a great day at a local institution that 2+ years ago lost both their brewers when they left to open a much larger, and now highly successful, brewery in a different county. Now this place has a new brewer to replace the duo who left, and it was a very happy session trying his beers that were uniformly delicious. So good to again drink great beer in that beloved place.

I visited Boston in October and had a bunch of really good stuff for the first time on day 1. DDH Fort Point, DDH Melcher Street, Congress Street, Captains Daughter. It was 65 degrees and sunny out too and my first time in Boston. Cool city.

I've also had a few long lunches at Tired Hands and long dinners at Monks Café that qualify as top tier experiences. Both are places where you can get multiple A+ beers every visit.

Had both TT Landlord and Titanic Plum Porter while in Europe. The Plum Porter was ridiculous.

No homerun days here, I'd have to be in Charlotte I think. But any trip into Vt is a homerun, this pre NEIPA days too.

I've had beer festivals or friends' beer club meetings with a wide swath of masterful brews, but when I think of perfect beer days, I think of perfect days fueled by beer, like those days living in West Africa where a few buddies and I would hang out at the bar drinking Castel or Flag Lager for 8 hours straight in a thatched-roof bar; or the day we went on a camping trip and went tubing down the river, trying a bottle each of every cheap American lager we could get our hands on just to rank them; or the annual family summer barbecue when my Dad and I tended the grills and tossed back ponies of Rolling Rock and cider; or my 21st birthday when I took my friends to Vestal, NY's Ale House and was finally allowed to order everything on the tap list I'd always fantasized about.

If it was a bartender I didn't care for I may have let it go. I just didn't want her to get in trouble. My wife got a pint of dankwood there a few weeks ago too. They don't pay attention to their abv much, to our benefit.

I had a really great Beer day in Charlotte earlier this year. It started on the Deck at Wooden Robot and ended up in sitting in Adirondack chairs outside at Unknown Brewing Co. on a perfect afternoon listening to a really good live music, a Great day. Can't wait to get back to Charlotte...I'll call it a Home Run.

Love Resident Culture, nice and relaxed, great beer, cool place, Heist has great beer, crowded and and bit hectic. For a local HR I'd have to go to Haw River Brewing, lots of different beers I'd say we're definately off my radar. The first two are close enough to easily drive, and NoDa is a few minutes away, next time in Charlotte check them out.

We also liked Divine Barrel, thought the beers were great...sat outside and got take out from Deejai Noodle Bar (door right off the patio). They delivered it to our table, good food, good beers. Great stop....
