Actual question: do ignored users posts still count towards the total post number, even though we can't see a blocked users posts?

For example, if there's a 3 page thread (120 posts), and user has posted 10 times, if that user is blocked, will the total still show 120, or will it show 110? Sometimes, folks reply by saying "see post 41", but if we all have different folks blocked , post 41 could different, depending on number of users blocked.

Yep they count, you just don't see them, you see a gap in the post numbers. You also know when a post is blocked. You will see "Show Ignored Content/" and you can override the "ignore" for that thread if the feeling moves you.

I both do and don't want to know how many users have ignored me. I don't want to know who. OK, I do, the bastages. If any of you are seeing this post - do you want to know how many are ignoring you? Would that be depressing, or might it be sobering and improve your posts?

Beyond basic, idle curiosity, I don't care one way or the other.

I think more people should ignore me, actually. Then I wouldn't have to hear them bitching and moaning about how much I post.

I don't care. As I stated, above, I ignore a few members. I don't make a big deal about it.

I have no doubt I have over the years annoyed or even offended people here, since I tend to get a bit intense sometimes (hence, my "self-preservation" ignores...). So, I would not be surprised if I am on some "ignore" lists. I doesn't bother me, though. At the time, I probably deserved it.

Yes, they should tally the number and even calculate some kind of alternative system to Beer Karma when you get past a certain threshold. Because if you get ignored by, say, hundreds of other user - well, that certainly is really...something.

This thread reminds me of a practical joke that I saw once on TV or in a movie where a guy walking down the street sits down on a park bench where another person is already sitting, but he doesn't say anything to the other person. After a while the other person says something to the guy. The guy just gets an astonished look on his face, looks at the other person in amazement and says, "You can see me?!" The other person left in a hurry.

Okay, if any of you want to ignore me after that story, you have my permission. :stuck_out_tongue:

i use the ignore feature more than most of the responders here, apparently. It is one of the best things I have done to improve my BA user experience. I had 26 in 5 years, but weeded out those who have since left the site and it is around 13 now. One of the ones I have ignored posts so often I get to see the words "ignored member' everywhere, which always brings a satisfied smile to my face.

I'm currently at 45, but it consists almost entirely of people that are unable to communicate in trade negotiations. Whether it's not responding, disappearing or the occasional "I'll just sell my beer and buy yours then".

I just wanted to make sure I didn't run into these people again in the future.

Actually, to be clear, I blocked one person because of what they said (completely offensive, clearly hammered out of his mind, and being a d**k), and the other person because they were (are?) using an alt-right avatar. Keeps my blood pressure in check. As does beer.

Came here to say this. I feel for the people that actually use it. It's an internet forum where we all have differing opinions/posts about the same thing: beer. Won't elaborate since @EvenMoreJesus already did, but have to agree with his post. I don't know if people on here know this, but the ignore button isn't available in real life situations . . .

Oh, of course there's an "ignore" feature in real life. It's called ignoring people. I use that feature way more regularly than I do here.

An interesting example would be finding out how many people spend equal time watching both Fox News and CNN News.
