Kicking off the weekend. Heading to the beer store soon. Thinking I’ll pick up some more Gose, as I have been enjoying Troublesome. Cheers!

Brand IPA. Looks a bit strange and normally I don’t crush my cans. Had put it in the freezer this afternoon to give it a quick chill, but forgotten all about it for some hours

Had to squeeze the slush out. Beer is a bit cold, but that’s OK on a very warm day like this. Even the head is icy.

    Cheers!

What an odd duck of an ipa. I’m not sure I’m in love with it, but it’s growing on me. A good beer to break your ipa palate fatigue. I guess cactus will do that?

Cheers you all! Thank you @2beerdogs for sending me a terrific box of beer from Bruery Terreux. I have been cooking up a storm and let's start the weekend with this one.

It pours with a sweet purple blush that tints the head . The head is creamy enough but falls just a bit faster than your average stout. The color of the beer is dark brown. Just blushing with that purple color. Exquisite. The nose is bouncy with the currants yet roasty with malt. No real deep notes like coffee or chocolate but a nice dry wood and earthy funk. Drinks a little bit less than full or does it? with a tiny deception in the mouthfeel from the sour. That fruit steals the finish and the sour makes the beer appear lighter than it really is. It's creamy and just roasty enough to stand up to that sour. This was my favorite beer so far as far as balance between sour and malt standing. Finishes with a few bubbles and lots of vibrant sour fruit. [IMG] [IMG]

Sottocenere Mac and Cheese paired with Bruery Terreux Tart of Darkness with Black Currants.

The roasty notes keep this beer together with the truffle mushroom and the fruity sour just cleanses the palate from all that rich cheese. The cheese is made from cows milk and the rind is scented with fennel, licorice, nutmeg and so this is a great cheese for a pairing with a dark beer. . The ash from the rind makes the dish as it imparts a deep charry sweetness. Roasted rappi with salt and pepper and some na'an to round it out. Beautiful cheese. Beautiful beer. Cheers! Thank you Derek. I am getting to the last couple beers in the series on the box you sent me that I am calling "Cook the Box." New Beer Sunday is coming.
