Yeah, I left gose and wit off my list since I don’t like coriander. I’ve still had a few I’ve really enjoyed in both styles though.

Gose is great in the summer as well, but I still prefer a good Berliner Weiße, which I also feel is the more underappreciated style.

A 2 month old Sierra Nevad Torpedo is still better than 80%+ or more of the local brewer IPAs being made and drank fresh. Still only 10% or less of nano/self distribution brewers know how to make a decent IPA (NEIPA or otherwise).

Craft beer is only expensive if you are an alcoholic or a hoarder.

    1. Lagers, craft or not, taste the same to me, and are gross.
    2. Milkshake IPAs are only popular because the word "milkshake" is in the title. Lactose in IPAs makes them taste like mucus.
    3. The secondary beer market sucks
    4. Tree House's "That's What She Said" is the best non Imperial/BA stout.
    5. IPAs belong in cans, and stouts belong in bottles

There is no possible way you can genuinely claim that a doppelbock, a helles, a Baltic porter, a schwarzbier, and a rauchbier taste anything like one another (or many of the other lager styles I did not mention).

So glad someone pointed this out (and I didn't have to).

With a lot of the posts in this thread it should be called "Ridiculous Beer Opinions Thread"

I had to laugh at number 2. I too despise lactose in beer. It hits my stomach like a donut. Sweet. i won't even buy a beer that has it. the other week I turned down my favorite beer guy's suggestion at wegmans because of lactose.

I find I like it when it's used tastefully in styles that I believe benefit from it. Some fruited sours with it I find I like. Also like the style of milk/sweet stout, which can't be made without lactose, hence its name, but not everyone likes that style. Not a fan of it in IPA's so far, but like with every other food and drink on the planet I keep an open mind. Glad it doesn't give me stomach upset.

I did have it in a mikeller beer in the sierrra nevada mix pack a year or so ago. And I liked it very much. I heard of it being used in sours and I have not had one yet but that makes sense to me because the fuller styles hold the sour very gracefully.. The IPA's I have tried that have had it were mellow which was the word the fellow at wegman's used which made me check the label. Happy New Beer Sunday Dave.

beer holidays are stupid, there are too many of them, if there was just one, it would be okay, but it has gotten stupid...as if people really need an excuse to drink beer, please.

No my point is that if your are poor (examples you gave), if you enjoy high end craft beers as a "treat" you still can scrape up $15-$20 every few weeks to buy a 4 pack of Tree House IPA, a BA stout or sour for example. Just can't partake on a daily basis or drop $100+ a week/month etc. on growing the cellar to undrinkable levels.

In the same vein, what has gotten stupid are all of th "National Days'....national cupcake day, national taco day, national craft beer day etc. Just stupid.

Agreed. Grimm's Pop! series immediately came to mind. I love almost everything they do especially the Pop beers.

Sure, I see your point and I suppose we all have our perspective on what constitutes value. For instance I think $20 for a four pack is a good deal more than I'm willing to pay and I'm very far from being poor.

Yeah, from a personal finance standpoint, I'm going to go ahead and say that high-priced hype beer is a remarkably poor use of money if you have quite limited or non-existent income, especially "every few weeks" (as opposed to rare special occasions). If you insist on drinking craft beer in that situation, you probably should be taking advantage of $11.99 12-pack sales and the like. What would Suze Orman say?
