Was not aware of the social dynamics behind this brewery. Wow, they suck.

Been there once, been to Former Future once. With both, once was enough. Didn't get the love for BP, didn't dislike what I tried but also was't impressed, which I expected to be given the hype And. Former Future seemed like just another middle of the road brewery and a little boring, especially for the Denver market.

@Dan_K would love to hear the response on if all bottles have been distributed to members for this past membership or if 2 have not been yet. I agree with others that I don't think that BP won't deliver just that it is weird to end the membership before all beer has been handed out.

To play Devil's Advocate here, it's not BP ending the membership early, it's an annual thing with an established time frame that they simply aren't extending (if this is even the case - I don't know). If the bottles aren't conditioned yet and ready to be consumed, what else can they do? If Agents choose not to re-up, that's their prerogative; I am sure they'll still get those bottles when they're ready.

Wouldn't the program not be completed if they have not received everything yet? If you're guaranteed X amount in a certain time frame shouldn't the people either...

    A) be members until all parties have upheld their end of the agreement
    B) Offer pro-rated refunds for not coming through with promised goods in your timeframe

If you pay me money and I agree to do something in the given time frame and I don't complete it wouldn't you be upset?

I'd be upset that I was such a rube to give them money upfront for beer that didn't exist yet. Fuck that.

So literally any membership in existence then lol

I have no dog in this fight and I'm the last person to defend BP, but just saying that when dealing with beer of this type, shit can take unexpected turns.

Yeah, pretty much. I think it's insane to drop $300 on maybe 10 bottles of beer from a small, half-baked brewery. I've never understood it, and sure as shit don't feel like I've missed out. Clearly, there are a lot who don't see it my way, as there are beer clubs all over the place. Beer distro is pretty damn good in Colorado, I can do pretty well at most liquor stores.

I was one of the Agents who didn’t renew my membership this year either. Mainly because I need to put my beer buying in check and BP bottles are not cheap especially when the majority of them are $20+ for a 375 or 500. I never posted in the Agent FB group but I would check in every now and then to see what was going on. I know some Agents had issues with pricing and the way the membership was handled. I personally never had any issues with James, Sarah or the rest of the staff and neither have the handful of my friends who go to BP on a somewhat regular basis (3 of them are Agents as well). I enjoy BP’s beers and will continue to go to the taproom occasionally. A lot of people tend to be over dramatic and blow things way out of proportion when they don’t have 1st hand knowledge/experience of what goes on with certain breweries. Most people’s opinions and knowledge of BP seem to come from a 2nd or 3rd hand sources. Beer geek drama is the worst.

I am so with you on that. 75% of the reason I read these forums is just for the trainwrecks. Love me some good hunaphu day disasters, lol.

Current Black Project member and renewed this upcoming year. For the most part I just hook friends up with bottles and rarely buy stuff for myself other than Roswell. I believe that they have 2 more bottles left for the membership that they plan on delivering. I don't think they shorted anyone on bottles.

Pros of membership are not having to deal with lotteries. Also agent exclusive Roswell blends. Yes, Black Project beers are pricey (so are Casey and many other breweries). That being said you are not forced or coerced into buying their beer/merchandise if you don't want to. Seems to me many beer geeks fail to grasp this concept.

As for the staff issues, every time I have stopped in there I have been treated warmly. For me, ignorance is bliss for all the beer drama (mostly fabricated drama).
