Off work today so thought I’d get a head start with some Cigar City.

Been holding onto this since last summer. Drinking nicely! A lot of roasted malt, some char, bitter espresso flavors. Great stuff.

Keeping with my late summer amber theme . . .




Beautiful clear deep amber gold color with substantial cap and lasting lacing.

Aroma of sweet, rich caramel malt and floral hops.

Taste on entry is malt forward which does strike me as caramely but not sweet. Rather dry actually with a sense of fullness without going over the top. The floral hops add a nice touch as they are present as a topping but don't add bitterness.

Hoegaarden Wit / Blanche. Long time ago since I had this one.
There is coriander and some orange peel in this beer. Not strong at all. I must admit I'm only noticing it because it's printed on the can. A good thing I guess.

Big Axe Brewing Company NE IPA

 

One of two flights I had at The Answer Brewpub last night. This flight had an outstanding stout (high ABV) and a sour which @CanConPhilly made me get. I forgive him for the sour beer bit.

Needless to say, I opted for a couple of glasses of IPAs after the flights whereas Matt opted for glasses of the high octane stouts. What does this mean you ask.

 

@TheGent This is indeed a mighty fine beer. The passion fruit flavor is very nice and integrates well with the base gose. Cheers!
