Skinner State Park, right off 47 in Hadley, has a wide network of hiking trails. Hike (or drive) to the Mt Holyoke Summit House for an amazing panoramic view of the whole Pioneer/CT River Valley

3cross is a pretty mediocre brewery. It looks like they have been transitioning to Kombuchas which are not bad.

I know the guys at Cold Harbor and they just moved to a 10 bbl system and they just want to keep selling out of the brewery and cater to a few of the Westboro restaurants. The also plan on canning pretty soon.

Hahaha I just looked up Book Mill. Their motto is the best "Books you don't need in a place you can't find"

I am definitely going there now

Great place to visit but I wouldn’t want to live there. Oh wait, too late.

People don’t realize that Worcester is the second largest city in New England (bigger than Providence and way bigger than any place in Connecticut). It still has a ways to go, but as long as you aren’t a vegan you’ll have a great time.

Seems like a silly question, but, does Dacosta's have a corking fee for beer? Etiquette is different everywhere, I am sure, and I don't want to step on any toes. Having some TH cans with pizza sounds like the dream. In the Chicagoland area you have to have everything in a soft cooler bag, present it to your waiter and then there is a fee.

No corkage fee - i've personally never been to a BYOB establishment in Massachusetts that charges a fee not sure if there is a law against it or not.

There’s a Brazilian BBQ on shrewsbury st a block down from Wormtown that’s also BYOB. Very good food - not quite up to Fogo de Chao but for the price, unbeatable. if you are looking to commit the deadly sin of gluttony I highly recommend heading there.

No longer!! They have a license to serve now.

I agree this loop into western mass is a very good idea. B&F and Honest Weight make incredible beers with a fraction of the hype of the MA heavy hitters, and there are many fun things to do in the Pioneer Valley.

Any locals make the trip to Tilted Barn about an hour South? Does it seem worth it? I know these would be individuals opinions but I am curious

I live in Worcester and work in Providence and would not recommend doing this unless you want to roll it in to a beach trip. The drive is longer than an hour and this time of year you could hit bad traffic. Providence might be worth a trip though. It doesn't have as good a beer scene as Worcester but it's a great town for food and there are decent beer options. Lately I've liked to hit up Long Live and find that their hoppy stuff ranges from good to incredible.

Hey man, the Boston Globe says Worcester is hip these days.

Anyways, you'll be about 30 minutes from Black Pond in Danielson. Highly recommended.

It has always been something that annoys me. Worcester transformation has been awesome to see the last 3-5 years. It has slowly become part of that New England destination.

Even when it was a complete shithole, I always had a soft spot for Worcester.

Thanks for the heads up. I will skip it since I am already going to be fitting in 5 days of stuff into 2, but, felt like I should at least ask since Tilted Barn is fire.

I wanted to bump this back up really quick since the trip happened and it was a lot of fun.

The main thing I wanted to say is Honest Weight is freaking amazing. Every single thing they had on tap was super well done and the guys were a chill treat. I am half tempted to make an Honest Weight thread just to put it out there for everyone. It is a must stop when you are in that area.

TH was fantastic, this batch of Haze is out of control and we were fortunate enough to get drafts of some real killers.

I ended up in Brattleboro VT for the scenery and trails as well as to hit up Whetstone for lunch and the food co-op for some crazy cans. It was like everyone from Burlington was there. BBC, Frost, Fiddlehead etc. I had to buy another cooler for the drive home. That was a very beautiful area

Here comes a controversial statement, Armsby is just OK. I actually liked the Dive Bar better and thought Five Eyed Fox beat them out as well (lunch spot between Brick and Feather and Honest Weight).

I sort of never want to drink beer from anywhere else anymore

Five Eyed Fox is legit. Had a beef heart bolognese there once that was life changing. I agree on the Abbey. I think it's hyped a little too much.

If we're talking food then yes Armsby is overrated and overpriced. Never got the hype for the burger and it's almost $20.

The mac n cheese remains super legit, though.

Are there any good German restaurant/beer bars in the area?
