I am not expecting his first beer to be as good as Corridor, but i'm secretly expecting it to be as good.

It looks like this Thursday's release is draft only, with growlers and howlers available. I know Roger hasn't been there long, but people are going to be clamoring for cans...or at least crowlers. I won't be able to make it over for this release, as I'll be out of town starting Thursday afternoon for over a week, but I may have to make it over there for the next release.

I still haven't made it over to Maplewood, but Bitter Pops recently mentioned that Son of Juice was their bestselling beer, so I'm expecting pretty big things from them now that Roger is there.

    And a lot more cans.

Man, Maplewood's space is already pretty compact. Once their profile explodes as I assume it will with rotating top-notch NEIPAs; it's gonna be tight in there.

also, they had an instagram story a few days back that they just got a crowler machine in ......
so i expect that to be up and running soon as well.

I'm holding out hope that at least one of Roger's motivations in moving is Maplewood's canning capacity and larger distribution footprint, but I understand that brewing with a new crew on a new system in a new space needs time. I live close, so I'm fine with running up there for the occasional pour, but I'm cooling on the crowler/howler/growler prices/format. It would be nice to see new one-offs or new rotationals canned and distributed. Maybe he can improve upon the existing canned lineup (which is already good) as well.

I'm mostly over crowlers/growlers at this point as well. I'll make exceptions for beers I really like, but in general I can't justify a huge single serving (since realistically you're not going to have 2 days of the beer with the same carbonation after the first time opening), and so it makes way more sense to spend similar cash on a 4-pack of something local (which is why I'm hoping they'll get some their newer stuff in cans).

Yeah, I have to assume they want to get Roger used to the new system and see which beers work better than others before going forward with cans. I'm totally with you that I'm expecting some of these to start hitting regular or rotational/seasonal canning runs, though.

100% agree. It needs to be a really good beer, and and also unlikely to make another appearance soon for me to drop money on a crowler.

    The price is so inefficient.

This. And people think Corridor can get tight for space... which obviously it does, but when I was at Maplewood in June I could see that oblong room getting tight real fast.

I'm also excited about this transition as Maplewood sees distro down here.

Lastly, I had some form of sausage when I was there. I don't recall the name of it as I was day drinking and this was evening time. It was delicious. The end.

Where does Maplewood currently do their canning- out of their brewery or contract somewhere? If Maplewood is going to do canning runs, I hope they do it the way FR does. Release some at the brewpub and put the rest into distro. It's nice being able to find the FR haze at my local craft stores.

It seemed like they outgrew that space as soon as they opened. More than a few times I’ve been held outside the door waiting for people to leave. My house is equidistant between the Rev brewpub and Maplewood and while it’s nice to have such great local, walkable options it can be frustrating at peak times.

When Maplewood is packed I really feel for the staff. The bar gets overwhelmed and with people standing because seats are all taken the staff has an obstacle course for bringing out food orders.

such shame bc they obviously make some solid beers.

but the layout of that place is perhaps the worst i've ever experienced

Not quite the worst. They do have a clear spot to order at the bar (for people not sitting at the bar). I wish more places would incorporate this.

Few points to consider. Corridor has way more foot traffic and cubs traffic. Maplewood is more of a destination you have to know about. Maplewood has a large distribution network with local bars and restaurants. If they can get Roger haze all over town, there will be less need to go the taproom. They also have the capacity to do large canning runs at Great Central.

So do their current cans come out of Great Central?
