I buy 90% of my beer from my two favorite local breweries. Love the freshness and convenience. Southern Grist is 7 minutes from home, and Bearded Iris is 5 minutes from work.

Yup, Neshaminy Creek sells to go six packs and they are obscenely expensive. Only stopped in once since I really did not like the vibe or service. I also dont like paying almost as much for a pint as I can get a six pack.

I buy 99% of my beer at retail. I get it, Breweries can sell 4 packs for $20 and keep all the profit but im not paying that.

I have no allegiance to any beers but Hamms. I buy whatever is on sale. Last trip was goose 15x12 packs for $11.99, Neshaminy Creek core, $26.99 case or $6.99 a six, Hofbrau $25.99 and Brooklyn summer for $22.99.

    Next time who knows.

    Enjoy

Usually retail stores such as Jungle Jim's which is literally Meca.
Beyond that it is split between a few bombers and 6 packs with
an average of 3-4 growler purchases a week. The sad part is that
some of my favorite ales are cheaper via Jungle Jim's from the local
breweries than they are from the source such as Braxton, Woodburn,
Mad Tree, and 50 West by a significant dollar amount. Also prefer to
purchases in quantity of 4, 6, or growler so as to enjoy it more than once
and not be left with fleeting notes and a foggy memory. Having just one
of the best beers one ever tried is good, but having 6 or a growler is
    better.

    Cheers

I buy my bottles/canned beer at retail beverage centers. Whereas a day trip to a brewery is for a few drafts, lunch (if they have food), and a growler-fill.

As a homebrewer, I'm finding I typically have enough of my own beer to drink that my commercial beer consumption has declined sharply. I simply don't buy much packaged commercial beer anymore.

When I do want commercial beer, I tend to favor going to a few local breweries' tap rooms for reasons of freshness and confidence in how the product has been handled. It's much harder to be sure at the store.

Do you think there is any major difference in a large retailer such as total wine, than a small mom and pop shop? I find usually the smaller shops have better selections of craftier stuff, but charge way more than the big guys do.

Neshaminy Creek is a great example...I've bought their beer out of state in jersey at a large retailer before and paid a few bucks less than I did when I was at the brewery.

Depends on the beer and the purpose of enjoying. I prefer to get my beer on draft from the source whenever possible. Even if I am grabbing a 4 or 6 pack, I would rather get it from the brewery so they are getting the biggest cut of the profits directly into their own pockets. Also tipping and supporting their front end staff.

If I am out at a craft bar or pub I tend to only purchase stuff I can't get locally.

If I am going over to a friend's or family's house for a meal or to watch a game I prefer to get a 6 pack of something affordable and crushable. We have an independent employee owned grocery store in town with amazing prices and selection (even got Abyss from the cooler at $12).

If I am looking to enjoy beers at home I will usually pour from one of my 6 homebrew taps. But if I am in the mood to try something new, or sought after, or a style I don't have on tap, I will either get singles from 1 of 2 great local bottle shops, or swing by 1 of 2 specific breweries for a crowler or 2.

Mostly retail for me. The exceptions are MoRe and Mikerphone, which are very short drives for me and either don't distribute or distribute sporadically.

In general, I don't wait in line for beer, other than for maybe 15 minutes for a few Mikerphone Bean Spirit releases. I've really waited in line for beer once, and that was for one of the BA Hennas, when I had a free morning and knew there was no other way I was going to get to drink that beer.

I pretty much exclusively buy retail, mostly because I'm a poor college student and the lower prices are nice, but also because I prefer to drink imported German and Belgian beers over whatever new release hyped up trend beer they have at the brewery.

Retail stores serve my needs the vast majority of the time. I still enjoy plenty of imports, so there's that, but also regional and national brewers are doing a better job at styles I prefer. My local shops have also gotten a lot better with regards to freshness; and affordable growler stations also serve that need, especially for hoppy stuff.

There are a few breweries who make special enough brews that I'll make the side trip for, but they aren't exactly local so it's more a matter of when I'm in the area.
