Just got home from the hospital, and I'm off until next Thursday night. Time for a 7:30am beer and bed. Still in my scrubs too

Good morning BAs! Today's New Breakfast Beer:

I'm not a fan of Bells' brews - and this reinforces that mindset.

Something IPAish will fill the bill . . .

Deep rich golden color with white cap and good lacing.

Rich malt aroma with a good dose of piney hops.

Flavor on entry is almost equal parts malty richness and hop brightness. Fairly simple flavors but served up in ample portions that lead to a fuller flavor profile. This isn't one of those IPAs where hops take over and malt just totes the luggage, rather seems to be a well thought out and crafted brew that keeps things in perspective while accenting the hop showcase. Hop flavors do build toward the finish and linger in the aftertaste but they are clean and bright without any heavy handedness.

Checking out this Evil Twin/Westbrook Mexican Cake/Imperial Biscotti Break iteration...
My biggest warning is the price - $36.99 at Total Wine - that being the cheapest place on the Island - I didn't realize it was gonna cost that much, but I'd kinda already decided to buy it, so I did; but I suspect I've got a lesson to learn about my decision-making...
Had virtually same beer back in December of 2017, except that the label was black and they hadn't added the word, "churros," to the name - don't recall paying $36 for it either...
Anyways, I'm half-way through my first pour, and I'll say this: Yes, it is a good beer, yes, I do taste donuts which I'll equate with churros just to be on-theme; but no, it is not worth $36. Beers I've paid that much for have been limited to a few Fifty-Fifty Eclipse stouts, like this one, aged in apple brandy barrels from back in February of 2017...
...and a few Bruery anniversary releases, like this Cuivre, from July 2015...
...And much to my chagrin, for the money, they were more worthy purchases... And it's also worth noting that after Cuivre, I stopped buying Bruery's anniversary beers because the price was so high and they were all starting to basically taste the same... I'll still buy an Eclipse stout every now and then apparently - aside from the aforementioned, I had their Willett bourbon barrel edition this past Christmas, too...

    Back to this...
I think another issue with these ET/Westbrook hybrid beers is that all the flavors kind of muddle together and lose some of their "specialness"... I do get the donuts/churros, a little bit of bourbon barrel aging impressions, a tingle of what I'll assume is peppers, and the typical chocolaty elements of a stout... smooth, a little sticky - maybe like maple syrup... Again, certainly an enjoyable beer, but unless you're passionately pursuing the line or acquiring trade bait, you can find just as good much cheaper...

Anyways, no regrets really - I mean, it's only money, right?

“Who the hell are these three Mexicans and how do they play so fast?” - Scott Ian

    Cheers...

Ordered 2 of these on eBay. Cancelled the i3 order when I found out there was an i5 version for $15 more. Got refunded for this one but it shipped anyway and seller doesn't want it back. So grabbed an SSD at bestbuy and prepping it for sale to cover a new monitor and maybe original i5 system. Came with no ram like advertised either. Cluster fuck I need a drink

I know this beer has gotten flak, but I'm really enjoying this. I'm picking a real nice fruitiness.

I've got three left. I'll probably age them for 10 or maybe 35 years to see how they hold up.
