Another travel day ahead...but first some morning coffee - CW’s “Peruvian Morning”:

Rainy here in NYC, and this BBA Coffee Stout is a fine eye opener to ward off the damp. Have a great Saturday y’all!

Good morning BA, have a great Saturday.

6.5 year revisit. 1 month old bottle. This was amazing! Fantastic head retention and thick soapy lacing on the glass. Aromas and flavors of big grapefruit, tangerine, lemon, peach, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, citrus peel/rind, light pepper, and pine hops; with moderate toasted bread, light caramel malts; and herbal, floral, grassy hop earthiness. Light-moderate pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, floral, grassy, peppery bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation/body, and fairly crisp/clean finishing. Balanced bready/grainy malts and sticky/resinous/rindy hops in the mouthfeel. Light-moderate increasing resin dryness, no hop astringency. Very refreshing for a pale ale, not overly aggressive. Amazingly juicy, vibrant, dank, and earthy balanced Citra hop complexity; nice bready malt backbone, with no residual sweetness from lingering bitter dryness. Glad I have 5 more. Have not had this in years. My rating dropped a ton, but I knew it would. Still the best APA I've had. 4.33

7 year revisit. This was a bit of a revisit whale for me. Never thought I'd have it again, but yet here we are. Wow, this was amazing. Nice head retention and lacing for being 8 years old. Aromas and flavors of huge raisin, prune, plum, cherry, fig, date, apricot, red apple, sherry, port, leather, and tobacco; with balanced caramel, brown sugar, toffee, brown bread malt sweetness; and light notes of molasses, licorice, nuttiness, smoke, chocolate, vanilla, bourbon, toasted oak, and yeast earthiness. Very mild herbal bitterness and bourbon/oak spiciness on the finish. Light-medium carbonation and fairly full body; very creamy/silky malt moutfeel; light slickness, stickiness, and oak tannins. Lightly increasing lingering bitter/tannin dryness, no cloying sweetness. Minimal warming 14.5%. This held up insanely well for 8 years, must have been stored well. No cap seal deterioration. Oxidation was mellow and on the complementing wine-like side of things, instead of outright cardboard. Perfectly balanced fruity yeast and bready malts; with solid barrel presence for 25% of the blend. 4.3

Beer #2 is Cristopher The Crimson Crooner by Amager. A bourbon barrel aged barley wine that has been sitting in my fridge for a while, but no time like the present.

An early start for some but I've been up for awhile and no plans to go anywhere . . .

Attractive red gold color with off white cap and lacing.

Scent of rich malt that comes across as more caramel than toffee but without sweetness. There's a wafting scent of spicy, floral hops of the Noble variety which would be true to the roots of the German trained brewer.

Taste is rich, round and quite malt forward with the depth of roasted malt but without any roasty bitterness. Though rich it comes across as rather dry with enough dimension to be interesting.

It took me a good long while to see that the name meant to shatter the Galaxy, and not... well, shitter in past tense... am I too drunk already?

    Good morning beer peeps.

Well August and being home instead of a coast town does feel good when you are running errands and you are almost alone in the supermarket. Very nice.

Drinking SNPA what a good summer beer.

Amazing as always, just got a fresh pack recently. Flavors of pineapple, grapefruit, tangerine, peach, lemon/orange zest, citrus rind, light mango, and pine hops; moderate wheat, bread, light honey malt balance; and herbal, floral, grassy hop earthiness. Light-moderate pine, zesty, grassy, spicy bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation/body; balanced creamy/grainy malt and hop stickiness in the mouthfeel. Lightly resinous, with increasing bitter dryness; never astringent. Really well balanced IPA; classic Willamette, Amarillo, and C hop flavors. Always a favorite. Been buying this more than IPA lately, my usual go-to Lagunitas beer in past years.

Fatamorgana quad dry hopped. This was fantastic. Aromas and flavors of big tangerine, orange juice, grapefruit, lemon, peach, pear, pineapple, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, berry, citrus peel/rind, light pepper, and pine hops; with moderate wheat, cracker, white bread dough, light honey malts; and herbal, floral, grassy hop earthiness. Light pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, grassy, peppery bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-plus body; creamy/bready/grainy malts, some sticky hops, and light resins/rinds in the mouthfeel. Lightly increasing lingering bitter dryness, minimal hop astringency. Dangerously smooth for 8%, almost refreshing. Great soft feel. I reviewed the base beer 4 years ago, this did not blow me away as much. All Citra, Centennial, and CTZ hops. Super juicy, vibrant, and fairly dank/earthy balanced hop complexity; with a nice bready wheat/oat/malt backbone, and minimal residual sweetness from lingering dryness. Delicious spot on NEIPA style. Base was probably the first NEIPA I ever had, so having others over time probably shifted the opinion down. Will have to find the regular one again.

Ha! You better take it easy the rest of the day then! And by the way, La Cabra is just a short drive away from Tired Hands and definitely worth a visit. Just saying, since you'll be in that neck of the woods soon.. Their IPAs are awesome and significantly less ...gimmicky.

Fresh Cloudwater is always a treat, as I’m sure @911CROFT and @LiamoMill can attest. So damn good. Beer #3, on a day where I’ll be disappointed if I don’t hit double digits @CanConPhilly .
