Currently a user must be a member for 30 days and have at least 3 posts moderated/approved outside of the ISO:FT forum. A cron job runs hourly and upgrades recently active users who meet the criteria.

Do you think this is too strict or not strict enough? I'm getting some confused beer traders and complaints so I thought it best to ask the community.

    Thanks in advance.

i think maybe not strict enough, even though it doesnt affect me at this moment, it could affect another BA in a trade with a newbie coming on to burn someone. Also thanks Todd that answers my question that i sent you...CHEERS

    This calls for a poll..........

I'm thinkin longer than 30 days.
Seems like a short period of time to learn what you are gonna need to know.

    Cheers

I think it's not strict enough, though I can't put my finger on why I feel this way.

I'd say, 30 days is a long period of time for 3 good posts. I'm with you on the 30 mark but bump the posts up a bit. Either way, I like that something is being put in place.

I am gonna say 90 days is more likely to yield good results, but I understand why this might be a bit too strict. 30 days seems not long enough, though.

Just a quick clarification question. Someone is allowed to post an ISO before 30 day but are not allowed to comment in the ISO forum themselves. Correct?

Yes. Many do, but as we've posted numerous times ... some form of it (but better) is coming back.

i wouldnt mind if it was 3 months and a minimum of 30 posts, its way short and maybe throw in there 5 threads started, i think thats fair enough. That way it will weed out some if not most ppl that would burn seasoned trader or BA in general....CHEERS

30 days seems plenty to me. I'm not really sure why a bad trader would be deterred by more than 30, but not by 30. A bad trader will just make the account then wait, anyway. And 30 days is more than enough time for someone to learn the ropes if they want to. (Honestly, about 30 minutes is enough to learn the ropes if you're even moderately trying.)

3 Posts elsewhere seems fine. I could see that being significantly higher, but, again, I don't think it really matters. I think the precise nature of the hoops doesn't matter as much as the fact that hoops exist.

30 seems fine. That's a shitload of time honestly and more than enough to learn a bit if you really care to. But seriously, the best deterrent against bad first time traders is to make them ship first. I don't really see how this isn't common sense at this point.

Whatever time frame you guys think is fair I will support. My thought is more along the lines that a new member needs to participate in the community for a while before being able to attempt to trade. No one needs to trade, we just want to. If trading is that important to a new member, then spending some time contributing to their new community should be a welcome challenge.

    Cheers All!

30 days is too long, 3 posts is not enough.

Something like 14 days and 30 posts seems much more reasonable to me.

I'd say 30 days is a good minimum. Longer seems better but I understand this could cause problems.
