Crowlers in the NW (2016/17 Update)

The Cannery in Seattle is permanently closed.

 

yeah i just saw that. so awesome!

 

Wayfinder in Portland has crowlers too. Their delicious lagers will add some nice depth to my warm-weather beer rotation.

 

Barbarian Brewing in Boise added a crowler machine but for 16oz cans and will can anything on the menu. Not sure if that counts for this list, but I think the are now the best brewery in Boise and by a good stretch.

I miss the guy. If anyone sees him IRL, tell him his friends are not happy.

 

I was wondering about him the other day. Hope he’s ok and just got tired of internet stuff.

 

I kinda suspect that's the case. @NWer has had nothing but good things to say about the dude, and I think he and I would get along great IRL (after the prerequisite "Terry Adjustment Period" of course). If anyone has his contact info, maybe shoot him an email/text/smoke signal and let him know that we're all hoping that all is well.

@draheim seems to be a similar example. Used to be very active, but as real life grew, internet shenanigans became less important.

Scratch one off the list:
The Growler Guys on Spokane's South Hill has shut it's doors.

 

Single Hill Brewing in Yakima does Crowlers
Varietal Beer Company in sunnyside does crowlers
Dwinell Country Ales in Goldendale does too.

 

It was an odd location. Plus the GG on the North Side had a seating area and made pizzas (mediocre, but good enough to accompany pints of good beer). Their size was useful for brewery promos and things like bar trivia, whereas the South Hill GG was big enough for fill-ups, samples...and that was about it, so, while saddened (it was about a 5min drive from me), I'm not overly surprised.

Supposedly, Steady Flow is either moving from or augmenting their location in Spokane Valley by opening up a space in what was River City's tap room in the west downtown "brewery district," but I've not heard when it will open.

 

I think location was a big part of it, if they could have gone in across from Trader Joe's as originally planned it might have been a different story. (Also was absentee ownership, by the same folks who have the one in Richland, not sure if that ended up being a factor.)
