I’ve set up a list of wants, gots, and for trade items in my profile. But I don’t see an obvious way of searching the FT listings of other BA members to find folks who have what I would like and have it marked FT. Can someone clarify if such a search resource exists? As opposed to posting an ISO / FT message and waiting for others to reply. Thanks from the newbie!

Go into the dollar 4 dollar or whatever trade Option you want them click the search. Make sure you have the search this forum only marked. Then search a beer name or abbreviation

I definitely had no idea this was an option.

The search function is helpful, but the OP is asking about something that would be even more helpful (but unfortunately doesn't exist). The idea would be to have a way to cross-reference Wants and FT lists, to see who has my FT beers on their Wants list, and vice versa. That would be a cool function. The search option only helps if someone has specifically posted that they are ISO something.

I understood what was being asked. I was just giving the next best thing incase op was unaware of that feature. It's far from perfect. The ft beers on someone elses want list would be a nice feature. The one problem with that is lots of people don't have a want list. Or they may be outdated

This is a "build it and they will come" issue (IMHO). If this was a feature, i'd gladly put Anything I wanted to trade in a FT list and update my gots list.

Is this a community built website? I’m a software developer on the Microsoft technology stack. I’ve also dabbled with other stacks from time to time. Would be interesting to explore the possibility of adding this feature.

@Todd is the one to talk to. Can' see a reason why we as a community and he as, well, Todd, would not want this to happen if it is low (time! Cost to him.

It's not. We handle all of our development internally, but thanks for the offer to help.

Have you tried clicking on the Wants or Gots under Beer Stats on the beer page?

    Example:
    https://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/trade/16814/?view=G
    https://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/trade/16814/?view=W

It allows you to browse Wants and Gots for the beer with some basic sorting.

Thanks Todd! Very cool! I was just playing around with this query and it’s very close to what I was looking for. I have to wade through the list looking for people who have it marked for trade but this is a small piece of the puzzle. I’m surprised at how few people have anything marked for trade. I’m guessing maybe some percentage would trade and just don’t designate their beers this way. I will see. Thank you!

Oops! Proving I’m a newbie using the site . Guess I was just looking up a beer today that some folks had listed for trade. Thanks again for your work, recent or not.

I go to my profile, then click beers, then “Gots”. Then I see several links like beers, wants, gots, FT, and places. Add some beers to your “Gots” list first. Then click FT and you’ll see the check boxes to let you turn some of your Gots into for trade beers. Finally, click “Tag” button at the bottom of your Gots list. Hope this helps!

Ok I found it after several clicks which is why most people aren't using it or finding it. Seems like there should be a pop up after you click "got" in the review section asking if you want to add it to your trade list. I wrote down my steps since I couldn't find how I got to it after the first time.

    1. click your name
    2. click your profile page
    3. click either beer or stats
    4. click gots
    5. click the beers you want to add to your trade list
    6. click trade.

I concluded BA is not all about trading so many people don’t give a hoot about FT. Otherwise I would agree that a more obvious way would be better.

It’s a lot of fun. I’ve only been at it a few months. Love trying stuff I couldn’t otherwise get.
